I saw references to the rule that non composite bows actually have a negative strength bonus ... I never bother looking at the lists .. since upon reaching 8th level with some chars NG campaign and given the new patch ...I figure I"Ve got to start again anyway... I wanted my ranger to get a composite bow.... will trade giant gar carcus that seems to have no point and of cookies ... despite the recipe for them in the manual .... I've not been able to find some where to get them in the game... on a serious note any food / nor drink read beer I buy does not disappear and I do not seem able to use it nor does it seem to have any purpose what so ever.... I 'd like to throw it at monsters or turn it holy with appropriate spells ... these monsters never seem to get hungry... I also can not sober up Elmo ... even if he is in the party and no where near a bar he perpetually seems drunk and everyone gets mad after while ... I wish there were avatar ala civ2 where I could just get a feel of where to go instead of playing the save check door dont like reload technique ... its create better flow ... and while on the subject .... I know fonts are expensive but at least the option to change the size might help us freeking blind adenturers have a chance to read the screen .. unless I want to run the game at 800 x 600 which loses the mass battle scenes.... and the hover overtext seems processor intensive.... I've a P4 NV5600 128 and the pauses while scrolling are painful.... maybe some tips on benefits and hints should be mailed out to all registered users might help... I'd buy every game they have were it to include some import and export of chars for other adventures.... plus I"Ve never seen BUgbears from any version of the game have 120 hit points these are supposed to be like super bugbears.... unless in the new rules every thing can go up levels ... I did once have a bugbear in an old AD&D game fred that once was allowed to become a pc .... and built up levels as a a fighter and ended up with a 100 + hps .. but he would have handed my entire party its A$$ even wit hthe hill giant in my party.... but one web spell and these guys are toast... what gives..... email edwardwstanley@hotmail.com directly in you can for feedback and or pointers.... well met
There is only one composite bow in the protos "composite longbow (Str +2)" located at row 4195. However I wouldn;t know where it is in the game. The cookies are for you to make in the REAL WORLD. Remember that place? I have found no use for the food or beer yet either. If you want to make holy Ale +1 i suggest you start reading some modding posts and figure out a way to implement it. This is a modding community, we are not magical mod fairies that sprinkle you with good shaithe becuase you want it. Elmo is a drunk and there is nothing you can do about it. All of hid dialouge is that of a drunk. It doesn't amtter where you are or how far away from the local tavern you are. Thank god he doesn't suffer in combat for it though. Perhaps he's developed an immunity?
Re: Re: Composite Bows and cookies ... where are they??? If it is coded in the game, is it not possible to code it as a Masterwork Composite Longbow sold by the Smithy in Homlett? Or am I over-simplifying?
Re: Re: Re: Composite Bows and cookies ... where are they??? i didn't check it's properties, only that it was there. You are correct, it IS possible, but i think it may already be magical. I will chekc when i get home and have access to the files.
I am currently making a masterwork composite longbow You will need a strength of 14 to use it. EDIT: look for it in my "[PROJECT New Content!" thread when it's done.
well I was trying not to be all that serious So from what I've read here .. is that I need to mod the game to get the composite bow... I just would have thought that given that ranged combat has always been an important part of D&D that one would be able to buy a compoosite bow somewhere.... it couldnt have hurt them that much to have one central purchasing place ... I would have thought it would have been easier... just modify the costs ... sure the blacksmith will sell you gold edged vellum... at 1000 gp a page.... etc.... unless you can 'make' one by taking a regular mastercraft bow and change it to a composite bow... the rules are just vague.. or maybe these rules were just trying to reflect a bad DM for the game now thats a setting that would be funny ... instead of regular ...versis ironman... do .... Choose DM type: 1) Never read the books. makes it up as he goes along 2) follows the letter of the law... 3) gives out levels for opening doors... 4) thinks he's playing Champions (tm) 5) owe's the player money, re monty haul... 6) its a miracle to kill a goblin ... and it only get worse from there... and so what .... its my fault the couldnt incude the code to get cookies from the baker....
or for that matter candles from the candlee stick maker speaking of that ... why cant I set a fire in a distance so I can see battles or people off in a distance.... or use the food as bait..... now that'd make tonnes of sense near the bear.... for eaxmple... all this crap makes me just get out the old books, not this dragonquest / Ad&d 2nd amalagmation and play the real thing.... now if I can only find my monstermanual 2 ....
i will be adding non masterwork composite long and short bows +1-+5 to the trader's sell inventroy each at 50% probability. I will attempt to add MW versions to Smyth's masterwork dialouge Man, can you imagine it? a 20 str, 18 dex orcish fighter or barbarian wielding a MW Composite longbow +5 str with all of the ranged feats? *droool*
