I did a search to see if anyone else submitted this, but did not find anything. So, when I have entered the Water Temple the past two games, I can't get Belsornig to talk. I talk to one of his junior priests, and they say that he is "across the hall". But I see Belsornig just standing there where he normally is, and he doesn't respond. So, when I finally get bored and initiate combat, the Juggernaut doesn't appear either. I'm running everything patched up to CO8 5.0.0 (which rox, btw)
There is an error in a fix I did for the juggernaut for 5.0.0, which affects Belsornig. The fix for it is in the 5.0.1 Cumulative Mods and Fixes thread in the General Modification forum. You can download just the fix, or the whole 5.0.1 Cumulative Mods patch (which I would recommend). Either way, once you install it, you must delete all the .pyc files in your data\scr folder (just the .pyc files, not the .py files). The 5.0.1 Cumulative Mods patch comes with a handy batch file called delete_pyc.cmd, which will be installed in your data\scr folder when you install the patch. Double clicking on delete_pyc.cmd will automatically delete all the .pyc files in that folder.
The 5.0.1 Mod Patch fixed my problem of Belsornig not speaking to me. My new problem is that after installing the patch, Belsornig attacks me when I enter the room. It doesn't matter whether or not I am wearing the Water Temple Robes or not. When I open the door, I can see the Juggernaught already moving. As soon as I get in range, the battle begins. I am hoping that I am not the only one with this problem. I have followed all of the installation steps that have been discussed at this site. Does anyone have the same problem that I do?
This is an old problem: all those critters are flagged to kill-on-site. Try entering with ONLY PCs, no NPCs (leave Meleny etc at a distance).
Hmm. Wonder why this is the case for Belsornig and co but not other encounters. Darned buggy room. Ted - just to make sure I understand, the presence of NPCs will trigger the KoS before the talking kicks in? Might be a scripting solution if that's so.
My party only consists on characters that I created. Therefore, it has to be something else. I even went back to the point of entering Level 2 again and went straight to Belsornig. He attacked my group without speaking. I have not tried to use an invisibility spell to initiate speaking. I will be trying that next. I just thought that you should know about this.
What alignment is the party? Have you done any of the temple bad guy quests? I noticed you said when you open the door that the juggernaut is already moving. As far as I know, the juggernaut should not move until after you enter the room. I've never played an evil party alignment, so I've never had a reason to talk with any of the temple priests - instead, my parties just walk in the room and kill everything.
My party is CN. I was trying to do as many quests as possible in this game. I performed two quests for the Earth priest and I performed one quest for the Air priest. At this point in the game, I found the Water priest and he would not talk to me at all. That is when I installed the Cum patch as per instructed on this site. Now Belsornig just attacks when I enter the room. I even went back to a previous save when I entered the 2nd floor and went straight to Belsornig. Same thing, he attacks. When I open the door, the Jug is moving. The fight starts as soon as I enter the room. Tonight, I will try the invisible method to see if I can get the quests.
That would be the quest ot steal the water temple's bugbears for the air temple, wouldn't it? And you are surprised that he attacks you?
I removed all the KOS flags from everything in that room, so that can't be the problem. The fact that the juggernaut (and not just the statue of the juggernaut) is present in the room means that combat has been initiated before you enter the room (the statue is destroyed and the juggernaut created by Belsornig's san_enter_combat script). The only reason I can think of this happening is if the Temple Alert flag has somehow already been triggered in your game. I will try to replicate the issue, but I have not had this problem since I removed the KOS flags. Unless more people report this problem it is most likely unique to your game.
well it could be from a area affect spell cast near by. ive done that throwing fireballs or others down hallways and making the peps in the next room mad. otherwise ive done many quests for the other temples even got one that wanted belsornig killed, but he still talks to me before attacking.
Hey, I've also had that problem with Belsornig and the Juggernaut is present, what I had to do to get the quests from him was have my thief sneak next to him and talk to him and get the quests, but once I exited chat he immediately attacked so I had to flee combat, I did manage to do all of his quests this way though.
I can't replicate the problem. I've run three parties past Belsornig since the 5.0.1 fix and I never have combat initiate on entering the room unless I take NPC's in with me. Zip up you saves and PM me for instructions on where to email them to. I will look into it, time permitting.
I've had the same issues (haven't tried it with the new patch) but there were a couple other odd things that happened to me in the water temple in addition to what was already mentioned in the initial post. When I walked into the water temple (with the cloaks on) got the same thing, so tried resting in Belsoring's room. This ended up starting combat, was able to kill everything (including Belsoring who was still in the same place in the other room). At no point did any juggernauts even appear, or even present and not moving when I was walking through the temple. To be honest I was looking forward to them, by the time I went into the temple I was high enough level that it was pretty easy and was welcoming the challenge. I went back and talked to the fire temple priest (I think, might've been the earth one; whichever asks you to kill him) and he doesn't acknowledge that I've killed him. When I look in my logbook it shows that I've completed all 3 quests for the earth, fire and air temples. Excuse the novice question, but can I install the patches/updates without having to start all over? I can understand how you can't use characters created from the stock ToEE when installing the Co8 program, but between posts am unclear as to whether installing updates requires everyone to restart at level 1.
