That's right. Bards, oddly enough, have levels where they gain new spell slots, but they don't learn any new spells. Not sure why that is, but it's per the rules. (Though looking at the chart, the "No new spells known" levels coincide with when Bards gain new uses for the Bardic music, so it might be a balancing thing to make sure the levels aren't "too good" or something.)
Yes, but what exactly is wrong with bard bonus spells and a 16+ CHA? Can anyone confirm the problem (and tell me what it is)? :help: @Kalshane: So, you would agree that if I have a high level cleric (and thus a high WIS) and I take a level of druid, I should only get 1st lvl druid spell slots, no matter how high the WIS? Because you do get lvl 2+ bonus slots in TOEE...
That's D&D 3.5 rule... 1st bard should learn a spell of the level they can cast 0 spells (so if they have enough CHA they can cast only the bonus spell) the bonus spell add only to the "spell per day", not to the "spell known" list 2nd when a bard gains a new song ability, he does not add new spells to the known list. in Tooe it seams to me it is a bit ... messy... If I can ask u something else... can u find a way to make "Bardic Knolege" something useful? such as an identify releted bonus or similar? till now it just works when u meet Tormell... it seams a pity... such a good ability reduced to that...
A lvl2 bard seems to adhere to the rules just fine. Without a clear and reproducable example of things going wrong, I can't help you.
... ok, i'll try to reproduce the error... gotta start a new game... i'll atach my savegame file asap if u think this will help. About the idea of impruveing the "Bardic knowlege" feat, does someone has any suggestion? not only about the tecnichal problems, but about the idea herself ... what could we use bardic knwolege for??
I'm not sure it is. I was puzzled last night that I was able to identify some +2 dex gloves when they already said +2 dex. (I tend to simply whizz through the inventory and id everything that doesn't say already id'ed) I had assumed they were already id'ed, but I think that this was Bardic Knowledge working. I will check tonight. The manual supports this (p39): "Bardic Knowledge: A bard picks up a lot of stray knowledge while wandering the land and learning stories from other bards. He may make a special Bardic Knowledge check with a bonus equal to his bard level + his Intelligence modifier to see whether he knows some relevant information about local notable people, legendary items, or noteworthy places. A successful Kardic Knowledge check will not reveal the powers of a magic item but may give a hint as to its general function. A bard may not take 10 or take 20 on this check; this sort of knowledge is essentially random."
I Know, I've played Bard all my life. Maybe we can make a bard able to identify not all sort of magichal object, but only aparticoular ones... just say fragernach or scheter... the troll's belt... Lareth's staff of Strikeing, the flame sword... in other words... the items with a particoular graphic style... different from the others... this is couse the bard knows that ... EXP a particoular blue bright bastardsword is the leggendary sword schetter, or ... the famous staff of lareth the beautyful is made in gold and precious gems and it is told it can deal a big ammount of damege... what do u think?
Correct. A 1st level Druid should only be able to cast 1st level spells, no matter how high his Wisdom is or what levels he has in other classes. Sounds like Troika really goofed up on multiclass spellcasters.
A clear description will suffice. What level is your bard, what's his CHA, how many spells do you have, how many should you have and why. Something like that. As to bardic knowledge, maybe that's more for modders to include in their dialogs/scripts, and not for dll hacks.
Well, I think can fix that with just one little change in my code that was intended for removing bonus spell slots after your stat went down. You will still see the empty slots and you can fill them, but after you rest they are empty again.
Bardic Knowledge eh... u know, we modders should keep that in mind, and occasionally mod for it. Rangers tracking skills too.
Actually, Track works in the game. It shows you all non-PCs in the vicinity and what direction they're in. Some actual quest-related uses would be nice too, though.
I tested the bard extra spells last night in a real game for bard levels 6,7 & 8 with a cloak of charisma +2. Base chr for the bard was 18, and the extra level 1 spell was always activated by the cloak. So, works fine as far as I can tell. As for the Bardic Knowledge - I definitely have two pairs of +2 dex gloves that are un-id'ed, so no long description, but the short description is given as +2 dex gloves rather than just gloves. They are from the target of revenge encounter so it may be that they're always this way because of the way Liv did them, or it may be because the party already has a +2 dex pair of gloves that have been id'ed. I don't know which, but I theorised that it might have been the Bardic Knowledge at work. Certainly hasn't worked for anything else though - so it does seem rather unlikely. So, there goes that theory then!
I'd say that it's just the way Liv did them - I have seen the same +2 Dex gloves you describe, and I've never had a bard in my party.
The +2 Dex glove, and all Gloves of Dexterity for that matter, are that way because they have no Unidentified Description ID, not because of any Bardic Knowledge, and that's from the original game. It's an easy fix to give them one, though then they may not show up identified in shop inventories.
