*Minor Spoiler Alert (I've tried to avoid blatant spoilers, but there may be hints in here...)* . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Found the master last night, I believe. I thought he'd died in battle -- he was trying to teleport, but he wasn't around to loot so I wondered what happened to him. (I wonder now if this is why I had weirdness with him last time I played through also...) I was basically done the game (just have to go fight Zuggy), but want back to Verbo to look for the master. I brought Otis with my CN party thinking maybe he knew something. I went in the shop and there was the master -- I have to admit that I was a little surprised at how cordial he was. I also had Darley (never picked her up before -- Fire Node (and Earth Node) is such a pain with lockups... she does bear striking resemblence to the Jade Empress ) Anyway, with Darley I can't leave so I think I'm just gonna finish the game without the extra magic stuff. [I was able to buy stuff by booting her out and asking her to join again, but that won't work with the Travel Agent.] By the way, I tried kicking Darley out and charming her with my newly purchased 'Wand of Charm Monster' which worked after like 15 tries, but then the Travel Agent and everyone else went hostile on me. I was thinking I might be able to get out that way since I just had to do something similar with Taki after the Balor fight. Taki (who I'd also never recruited before) had hopped through the nodes with my party (he died once on the Water Node and was reaised with a scroll), and was promtly feared/charmed during the Balor battle. He spent most of the battle yelling at me for attacking 'innocents', but the demons left him alone (they killed my Ftr/Rog/Brd who had also been charmed). After the battle, which the rest of my party survived, Taki wanted to fight me, so I charmed him myself. I took the charmed Taki to the Nulb house, where after a night's stay, he joined the party again. I was thinking the same trick might have worked on Darley (and maybe still would if I try charming her away from everyone (say, perhaps the drow tunnels ... last time I charmed her on the streets of Verbobonc which may be why everyone went hostile on me ... hmmmm).
One very interesting angle in the role playing sense is Elemental Evil vs. the Old Faith. Druids, as guardians of the natural order, are going to be have a great interest in somebody is "perverting" THEIR domain (the elements) in the name of an alignment extremism (chaotic evil in this case), and they are most certainly going to be motivated to "restore the balance." this is fertile ground for good role playing.
ok ted i tried that and it doesnt work. i tired putting the npc name in there and tried putting in female prisoner but i get an error everytime if the party is already at 8.
Okay, LG, keep in mind that the pc and npc in that statement are generic variables for object handles. They have to be defined before they can be used. Code: from utilities import * pc = game.party[0] npc = find_npc_near(pc, x) where x = the the Object Name from the proto of the NPC you are trying to add. Note that you have to import from utilities before you can use the find_npc_near function. Then you can use Code: pc.ai_follower_add(npc) to add the npc to the party as an ai follower, as the game does for animal companions and summoned creatures. This should not be effected by the 8 character party size limitations, but will be effected by the summoned creature limit, which pre-5.0.0 was set to 3, but is set to 9 (IIRC) for 5.0.0 and beyond. Oh, and if anyone is thinking of modding the dialog to make these NPCs join as ai_followers you don't have to define pc and npc as they are defined by default in dialogs.
Does Verbobonc happen to have a temple other than the Temple of Hextor? I foolishly got one of my characters killed in the middle of the drow quest and we're all good, so Hextor doesn't work for us. If not, no big; I have a recent save. Thanks, guys! You have done a wonderful job with this mod and I am really enjoying the game again.
Hi Folks I don't know how I "lucked Out", but after "escorting" the girls to Verbobonc, I was able to return to Verbobonc whenever I wanted, simply by clicking on "Verbobonc" in the right-hand column of the world map. I never did figure out how to get to the master merchants though. TRC
Havocmom, unfotunately no, the cleric of Hextor was an underdeveloped area of the mod, he does't even heal his own followers The Royal CAnadian, that is as intended with the latest updates from the CMF patch, glad you like it, it sure took a lot of effort to get it working that way.
i absolutely loved the verbobonc gnome quest except for one slight thing ... i'm a bit of an arachnophobe. the grove and the inn basement make me squeamish, but i actually fell out of my chair when the first gargantuan spider dropped from the ceiling. i guess that requires a "job well done!"
OMG! :evil_laug Sorry, I know the Germans have a word for laughing at someone elses expence, but i'm not even going to attempt to spell it, sorry you got a fright, but glad you enjoyed the mod anyway.
"Schadenfraude" or something like that, IIRC. On topic, yeah, that huge spiders are a great thing to have around in ToEE. No, I don't like them , but that's the idea, anyhow. Very well put, they really give you the creeps.
I hate spiders bigtime and I absolutely detest the way web works in the game. But, you just deal with it. You're probably not going to like parts of KotB either, but you've been fore-warned. Spiders are major monsters in D&D and they are everywhere, and I hate them all.
