Just to let you know. It's not 100% accurate to the D&D monster manual, but at least, you can say goodbye to his unhum, errr, ungiantic epic stats.
Hey, another problem with your otherwise fine file. My two wives are still looting the occasional single bolt, potion, or item. No big deal. But they're not selling anything. At all. And Meleni is picking up Masterwork Mauls like they're going out of style.
Yes, magic axe and master maul can be picked by NPC in the currently available version. But hopely I fixed them.
Yeah, but what about them not selling anything? While I like them, in theory, not to sell anything (that way I can give them potions / secondary weapons), it's a bit annoying that they now have a bunch of junk that they refuse to get rid off.
That'll take a little time. The best workaround I can think of is making the NPC hand you his gears through dialogue scripts. Anyway, currently I'm working on unhuman NPC's hitpoints... : You all know that the first hit dice must be rolled at the maximum, which the game's engin isn't taking into account. So I'm just changing things in the proto.tab. 1d8 becomes 1d1+7, 2d8 becomes 1d8+8, etc... A flaw lies in the fact that Humanoids have no racial hitdice, they got the class hitdice only which gets really annoying for low level bandits especially when they sometimes get ridiculously low hitpoints (like 2 or 3) and I can't fix it... So I'm thinking about just adding them some extra hipoints, but it would violate D&D rules... What do you guys think? However other weak non human creatures will now be fixed and fixed well.
There seems to be an issue in what I'm trying to do... Beside the horror I glanced at NPC charts that Troika has done... A question came up while I was modifying hitpoints. : I found this in the manual : Elf : HP dice 1d8 (3) (3) means the average. So it would mean that NPCs don't get the maximum roll for their first HP dice? Do the PCs only get the special treat?
i got shin's file for your downloading pleasure. here it is with his starting EQ fix too. Enjoy Here it is: http://home.comcast.net/~rex_blade634/Shins_Files.zip Oh and by the way, I'm still using his original NPC fix, and all of my NPCs (including meleny) will sell potions and stuff if i leave them in my inventory, they'll sell everything but they're starting EQ. Shin, you think you can get them to not sell potions, scrolls and wands? that way we can just leave some healing potions in people's inventory without worry. Perhaps there is a "NPC_no_sell" flag or something. Let me know if the file link is dead.
THX for hosting And no, as I said earlier, making a NPC_no_sale flag is out of my skill range. I'll try to get some dialogue editing skills so that I can make NPCs hand me their old gears over through dialogues. For example... PC : Meleny sweetheart, you certainly can't go adventuring with gears such as them. Meleny : I know, I know, but that's all I could take out from home, my love. PC : I'll get you the right equipment, why don't you just hand me your belonging over so that I can throw them away. 2 things. -I suck at dialogue writing. (extra hand welcomed) -This will take time. [edit] Now I'm thinking about... It might not be possible to make NPCs not sell potions. BUT! It might be more than possible to make NPCs merchants NOT BUY potions... Hmmm, I'll have to dig in this.
i like the dialouge Idea... but how about I write it? No offense, or anything Shin, but your English is a little on the rough side. Though your skill at speaking English is 10 times better than my skill at tspeaking French
PC: Meleny, why do you want to hold on to those worn out and useless things? Meleny: Worn out and useless? They belonged to my mother! Oh, why did I ever consent to marry such an inconsiderate brute? PC: Meleny, honey, baby, sweetie, I'm sorry! I didn't know. Meleny: Hmph. PC: I didn't understand that these were family heirlooms. Well, that makes it even more imperative that we buy you new gear, as we can't risk them being damaged. After all, someday you will want to hand them down to your own daughter. Right? Meleny: Nice try, pinecone. PC: Aieeeee!!! TD
