    I don't think there is much we can do about that. :sadblinky All you can do is tell the monster who to target by preference (closest, wizard, etc). Beyond that it's a matter of how the game is coded and obviously there are some problems with things in that regard when it comes to pathing in some areas and to narrow passageways/doorways.

    I've discovered a few bugs now I have level 11 characters - I have no idea if these bugs are with vanilla 5.0.0 or only 5.0.1, but this seemed like the best place to post them.

    Firstly, the Druid's 6th level spontaneous summoning spell comes up as "Error! Missing line -1 in mes/spell.mes" and crashes the game when used. It has a different list of options to the std 6th level summon spell which works fine. I've a screenshot.

    Similarly the Cleric spontaneous cast spell for level 6 is wrong, although the message is fine and it works as the normal level 0 spell. It's extra wierd for a good cleric though. Another screenshot attached.

    EDIT: I just found this thread so I guess this is more of a reminder than a new bug then..

    bug reports

    well I'm back after my little trip to the middle of nowhere, and found that a total re-install - vanillla, patch 2, co8 5, culative fixes, portrait pack - I'm getting the exact same problem. btw I noticed that the coins in the chest were named correctly but the scrolls and potions were nameless and it only CTDed when I looted them. on a side note I dicided to skip the chest if it was going to be like that and kill some shit - mainly some gnomes - so my ranger wanders on in to the cell thing and takes a swing - would've been a critiacl hit to but just before it hit CTD. I've looked at the protos and descriptions.mes and they are fine, the gnome (gimble I think) is using his vanilla portrait from the dats and I'm saying WTGDF is going on with my game

    also got toffee set to clear game cashe on startup. infact the only thing I think I've changed since I started using toffe and switching modules is disbling the intro movies.

    There is a fix for this and some other hard coded bugs being tested. Expect to see it (not fully tested though) in the 5.0.1 Cumulative Mods and Fixes thread soon.

    i downloaded and installed the newest CF this morning and now all the text diologe for the npc's is gone. if they have audio it still works. also unidetified magic items only show the pic not what they are, such as magic ring, magic boots etc etc.

    something else i just had the target of revenge encounter and as soon as i drop one of them i get a CTD. talk about sore losers lol.

    Are you sure it was the latest? The one dated 18-08-06 had an error in it. I uploaded a fixed version about 17 hours ago. I'm using that version and I have no problem. I haven't tried the target of revenge quest yet.

    yeah i saw your post about that and downloaded the fixed version this morning and installed it. im not sure if the target of revenge bug is related or not but the game doesnt crash during any other encounter so far just the revenge encounter.

    i also noticed that it no longers shows the names of npc's anymore either. im going to do a reinstall tonite and see what happens since i see what could be doing this.

    Not showing the names of NPCs is exactly what that error could have caused. Make sure the description.mes you are using is the one from the latest 5.0.1 (unzip it to a temp folder and copy and paste if you have to).

    Hi, this is my first post but I've been following your work for quite a while. Thanks, it's awesome!



    That said, ever since I downloaded the 5.0.0 final version, I've been unable to start the game with any of the basic modifications provided by the Front-End, such as humble NPCs. Characters begin the game naked/weaponless, but begin immediately in the alignment vignettes instead of the shopmap. After the vignette, the game transitions directly to the new Co8 content (ie. intro dialogue with the child exposing the changes brought by the mod).


    I have completely uninstalled ToEE several times, including a careful search of the registry to see if any leftover ToEE strings/keys were causing problems. I have redownloaded the Co8 5.0.0 final twice to avoid corrupted files. I have tried installing/playing the game both with and without the cumulative updates, and with and without the portrait pack, but i consistently get this problem, and I've followed the installation instructions precisely. (as far as I can tell, they're the same as with the beta, and I could get the shopmap to work then)

    I seem to be the only one who's had this happen, and it's driving me crazy because I only played the beta a few hours, in order to save the enjoyment of the final release!

    If you guys have any idea what it is i could be doing wrong, you'd make my day! Thanks, and keep up the good work!

    May be several things. Get the latest .NET framework from microsoft, download and install the official patch 2 from ATARI, do not instal PATCH 3, I also advise against the NO CD patch, and then co8 mod 5.0.0. By this order. maybe it worked. Otherwise, I'll let the gurus do the talking :) but that's definetely something your end I'm afraid.

    Well, too bad about the Bugbear Strategies Patch. Can you circunvent iut by forcing an INT check in the algorythms? I dont know, maybe I'm asking too much :-/

    Bug reporting. Many people may not be seeing this bug, because it's actually helps the players. If you choose the MAX HIT POINTS PER LEVEL option from the TOEEFE, when you heal anyone in the party, the spell triggers on this option and heals max points by the spell, instead of rolling. I have ceased from using the damaged LEVEL UP ROLLER, after a 5th level party with fighters, clerics, sorcerers and rogues has all 30 hit points...

    Zebedee, a thought: you mentioned that you could change the strategies tab to "closest target". I think that's the way to go, because the bugbears are numerous, and if they gang attack (surround) the fighters and front characters, the spellcasters wont be able to launch area spells very well and that will make them more dangerous targets. :) What do you think of the idea?

    ok Blue you were right i hadnt downloaded the newest CFP. its all working again just fine :).

    Wow - that's excellent news. I'll certainly help test that. It'd also be interesting to know what you had to do to fix it at some point too... if you have the time. :)

    It's not my work. It is Spellslinger's. And it's all .dll hacks. The download in the post talking about it in the 5.0.1 thread has his notes about what he did for each fix. I didn't include them in the 5.0.1 update though (sorry Spellslinger - maybe in future ones if you want it),
