Running 5.0.0 with frontend...looking to update with the 5.0.1rar file. Where exactly does this go? Stickied thread says: "As usual, unzip it into your ToEE root directory (with 5.0.0 as your active module if you are using ToEEFE)". Is the root directory: modules/ToEE folder or modules/ToEE DAT file? Or is it data.ToEE? I'm confused.
Its Atari/Temple of Elemental Evil, where all the other data files are (possibly only one in your case).
Thanks, done. I've started a new game (after finishing w/version 5.0.0). But now on the opening caravan/merchant map I can't speak to anyone. And the three merchants are naked. Now what have I done wrong?
You had v5 as your active module? (ie you loaded up your last game as v5) Then you extracted the cumulative fixpack to your ToEE folder? Then you deleted the .pyc files in DATA/SCR? (NOT the .py files of course because then you wouldn't be able to talk to anybody...).
Yeah - only an idiot would do that! Like me for instance. :shy: I can definitely vouch for nothing much working if you delete the py files as well as the pyc files, so this may well be your problem as Zeb said.
I cannot seem to find a "cumualtive fixes" 5.0.1 link. Maybe I am just reading over it but if anyone could point it out to me I would greatly appreciate it....and so would my eyes. Thanks!
I've underlined the links and made them more obvious. When you click on the link a window will open asking what you want to do with the file you are downloading (you want to save it somewhere, as you will then have to unpack it to your ToEE root directory). When you click on "save" another window will open so you can browse to where you want to save it (do it on your desktop, it's the easiest - you can always move or delete it later). Once you have downloaded the files, read and re-read the installation instructions in the post with the link very carefully, and follow them.
Hi, new here. I now have patch 5.0.1 and am ready to zip it to root directory. Do I delete ALL of the .pyc files in the DATA/SCR folders or just certain ones (like ones I am replacing)?
all of them. in fact there should be a tool in that folder that will remove them for you so you dont miss any.
OK, I'll look for the tool once I move all files to the root directory. Thanks for your help (that was fast!) Can I use my saved games or should I start a new game once I install the 5.0.1 fixes?
