    Thanks Cujo

As I said (I Think) in a previous post, the VA gave me great eyes when they worked on them. I don't need glasses to drive any more - but I do miss stuff up close.

hmm well my preferences have wandered a bit. i am also a fan of giving the half-orc barbarian a realy BFA and letting him loose but i had lots of fun with the heavy flail too. as of late ive been giving him a bastard sword and a light mace to use. others in the group, well the dwarf has to have his axe. the cleric has the mace or hammer. my bard usally uses a light crossbow but keeps a long sword and short sword for back up

Not to be dismissive of yor statemements Ven., but the "on our own soil" part makes me not care about the target if it's them or my 2 daughers. a couple copperhead missles in 'that' schoolbus is better than a couple I.E.D.'s on "our own soil" in my kid's bus. I would, however, rather let "to each his own" be the rule. I'm not hateful, or violent. Just love my babies, and a rocket launcher beats a BFA (usually).

    Police Question Gun Shop Employee

An employee of an Auckland gun shop is being questioned by the police after a man was shot in his shop.

A 19-year-old man entered the Small Arms International gun shop in Penrose around 10 o'clock brandishing a machete.

He was shot in the stomach. He has undergone surgery at Auckland Hospital and is in a stable condition.

Senior Sergeant Simon Scott says it is understood the man behind the counter shot the intruder in self defence. He says there were three or four people in the shop at the time, all of whom are being interviewed by police.

Meanwhile the father of the man alleged to have shot the intruder is angry his son may face charges.

Ray Carvell says his son was working behind the counter and acted in self defence. Mr Carvell says his son felt threatened by the machete, adding that people should not need to be attacked before doing something about it.

He says he is glad it is not his son who ended up in a pool of blood.

What, did I wander way off topic again? Damn, sorry. The weapon I use? well the liturgy states that all that is is my weapon.

Re: Police Question Gun Shop Employee

Yep. That made the stupid crook news here Friday. Never take a knife to a gunfight. Or, use a BFA in the age of satellite guided weapons.

I must agree with the gun shop owner. I certainly am not going to wait for the other party to draw first blood.

If someone threatens me or mine I will take them on bare handed, BFA, 45 Cal. auto. or 12 ga shotgun - Whatever is handy.

I am constantly opposing the idiots in this country that want to take guns away from the honest citizenry. When that happens we will be at the mercy of the criminal element whether it is at the local thug level or at a higher quasi-legal level.

There are some who are so stupid as to put stickers in their windows stating that "there are no guns in this house." That is an open invitation to robbery or worse.

I tend to use a ranger with a bastardsword wielded in one hand with a holy longsword in the other. My rogue dual wields a shortsword and a dagger. The fighter typically ends up with a polearm of some sort. The cleric's weapon depends on his/her deity.

But then I'm not very good at character builds or crafting perfect weapons for those builds. :D

nice Zee but you do know that your fighter takes a penalty for having that longsword and not something smaller

I kind of like that thinking, Spike. For once I have to agree with you.

    They deserve whatever they get.

Yeah, but it seems a shame to waste a holy longsword someone gives to you :ninja:

I probably should learn how to multi-class properly too but that's life as well ;)

Recently I created a rather piratey party to go tromping around nulb. Most of the scurvy dogs I created decided on the swashbuckler's fave weapon THE CUTLASS. My party was thouroughly enjoying themselves cutting up pirates ,lizardmen, gobbos and the like until we came upon a group of zombies. I thought the zombies were just exceptionally tough until I examined the rolls history to discover that my coveted cutlasses were dealing piercing damage. Could someone please explain how a heavy curved bladed sword is supposed to be piercing. WTF. I could see it being used as both because the tip is sharp, however I always equated the cutlass with the scimitar or its big brother the falchion both slashing weapons. Regardless it still looks really cool in the hands of my little rogue chic with her stylish blue do rag.

Cutlasses are treated as rapiers by ToEE. No, it doesn't make any sense to me either.

I personally think they should be identical to a short sword, only doing slashing damage instead of piercing.
