    Hey guys

wondering if I can install 5.0 as seperate entity in my Front End , So I could have the option of finishing my 4.0.1 game and starting a 5.0 game. Is this possible? how would do the install? ( If this is posted somewhere else apologies)

    Thanks

As far as I understand it...The reason is the map cache is larger for version 5 than version 4 and the two versions are not compatible for that reason.

[EDIT] That was with respect to saved games and their data files being interoperable [shared and used] between different modules and means saved games from mod 4 cannot be used in mod 5.

On the contrary, my understanding is that ToEEFE allows for the concurrent installation and operation of multiple modules. So, in effect, you could play 4.0.1 one day, 5.0.0 the next day, and Orion's Ultimate Fixes the following day without having to uninstall or reinstall anything. The only thing you must do* is deactivate whichever module you were last playing before switching to the next, which is also done through the ToEEFE interface. This is not a big deal. When you next launch the new module through ToEEFE, it will automatically 'activate' that module.

This is all thanks again to Agetian's fine efforts.

Check out this offering from Allyx featuring modules that are ToEEFEed up and ready to go:

*You would also need to lay in a healthy supply of dramamine if you were actually going to play Orion's Ultimate Fixes. :dizzy:

But when I install 5.0 fron the executable won't it over write 4.0? (4.0.1) actually.
I am wondering if I need do some manual install so my front end, shows 5.0 and 4.0
once I get to that point I am good, thanks

I'm not sure what Krunch is on about. That is what the frontend is for, or a big part of it. When you start the frontend you should have a list of available modules. Highlight the module you what to play and off you go

You have to deactivate your current module before installing a new one.

If you install v5, then the only thing which ought to be overwritten is the frontend itself - which isn't a bad thing because you'll be getting a newer version ;) But if you don't want that to happen, just uncheck that option in the installation options menu.

The frontend was designed so you can switch about. Currently I have 6 modules in my Toffee. And I can play any of them I want :)

You don't have to deactivate the module before you switch to the next one. I have seven modules each in both of my ToEE installations, and I never deactivate any of them, except when installing a new one. You should always deactivate which ever module you were playing last when installing a new one, unless you are very knowledgeable about how Front End works and don't mind totally fubaring your ToEE installation.

Sheriff, just deactivate 4.0.0 in the Front End, then install 5.0.0 and leave the Front End option checked. As Zeb said, the only thing that will get overwritten is Front End itself, with a newer version. You can always back up your old version of Front End by copying TempleFrontend.exe to another folder before you install.

Keep in mind that you will have to manually copy your starting characters from 4.0.0 to 5.0.0 if you want to use them. Starting characters and saved games remain in the module they were created in unless you manually move them. Your saved games from 4.0.0 (or 4.0.1 or any other module) will not work with 5.0.0 though, so don't bother moving them.
