so is troika gonna do any more dnd roleplayers? i love the dnd games in the style of baldur's gate and icewind dale. this new dnd online is crap. i hate that style of roleplayer, i really hope that dosent become the new standard for dnd pc games.
Troika is no longer in existance. Atari hold the license for games based on D&D and their current focus in using it for RPGs is Neverwinter Nights 2. The chances of us seeing a new game similar to ToEE and using D&D rules are very small even if Atari were to sell or somehow lose the license. There is a project to use the existing ToEE engine for further modules. Check out the Keep on the Borderlands forum on these boards.
We could start a rumor that Microsoft plans to buy all CRPG D&D gaming rights from Atari, including ToEE, and will have new future development of ToEE related D&D turn-based CRPGs to be released as Microsoft computer game products. Nah, just kidding; that may scare people.
So, that's what ol' Billy G. is gonna' do w/ Warren Buffet's $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$'s. Just helping the rumor-mill grind out more paranoia.
I thought this thread was for things having to do with the Temple of Elemental Evil, not asinine suppositions and starting rumors. If you want to do that put it in general discussion where it won't be mistaken for fact. Edit: I realized after I posted this that I may be being to harsh. If that is the case I apologize. Maybe this is just all fun. I don't feel that way but if I'm being a stick in the mud just ignore me.
Yeah, Ruf...don't you have modding to do? Leave some ass kicking for me!!!:chairshot: Edit: BTW, Krunch....is this your kid brother or what? He's like a Corporal to your Kap'n.
If you liked BG and IWD, did you try Neverwinter Nights? You can pick up the base game, two expansions and three official modules otherwise available only for a premium download for 20 bucks. (It's called the Diamond pack). There's also something like 5000 modules that various members of the community have made. Neverwinter Nights 2 is coming out in October. Unfortunately neither the original nor the sequel has an option for turn-based combat.
IF Microshaft were to buy the rights, they would run the game into the ground as they have with Mechwarrior. hopefully someone with a passion for real, and decent RPG's will carry the flag.
