Okay, so I finally had a chance to try out the orc fight. Even with the latest cumulative fixes, the orcs were still stubbornly using their bows in melee. Beyond that, here's my thoughts: 1) The fight is way too tough for the suggested level (1-3). Even with the orcs fighting stupidly (using bows in melee and provoking AOOs left and right) I still lost one character and had 3 more characters (out of 6) down by the end of the fight, at 2nd level. Rufenrede has asked me to look at weakening the orcs a bit to make the fight fairer for the suggested level, and I will look into that. 2) Longbows are expensive and orcs are best-suited to melee combat. I would recommend taking the bows away from all the orcs that aren't archers. If nothing else, this will get rid of the raging barbarian orcs firing bows in melee problem. ETA: Whoops. I'm an idiot. I forgot that last time I'd booted up ToEE was to play round in KotB, so I accidently applied the cumulative fixes to that. The orcs are changing weapons as they should. However, the fighters keep trying to tumble around and failing. I think they may need to be switched to a more straight-forward AI. Even with these AI failures, I had a TPK of my 2nd level party on my latest try. The orcs do a whole lot more damage when they melee. 2nd Edit: Here's the revised orcs with a 1st-3rd level party in mind. However, the number of orcs actually in the cave should be reduced, as even weakened, they still managed to TPK my 2nd level party.
Thanks Kalshane I'll integrate these in and make the number of Orc's level dependant, so you get less orcs 1-2, 3-4 will get the original encounter. -5-6 well you get the idea. I'll try and post this later, tommorrow at the latest, so it can be tested before the deadline.
I am A little late on this but, can the spell book be made into a container kinda like a bag of holding Never had finished the game so i am not sure if they are in the game already) with the spells in scroll format inside already? Of course it would need to be made where you cannot add to the book and anything inside the book can not be used so you can' cast the scrolls unless you remove them from the book to your inventory. Macer
Wow thats even 3 times more complicated The 'spellbook with detachable pages (that become scrolls)' idea gets my vote, whosever it was.
Idea may be good but i just found in here that you guys never could get the bag of holding item working so maybe a book with scrolls in it wont work either. But you can always try. Macer
Different problem all together Macer, and Cerulean the Blue did get the bag of holding working he just decided to use a chest instead. The Bag will probably be implemented at some point. Allyx already outlined how this could be done earlier in this thread. If there is enough intrest someone will probably do a spellbook at some point.
A few remarks about 'goblin gone' . . . - There was always an option to ask Jaroo to look at Black Jay's wife's ring. That option's still there, and when he asks you where you found it, your only direct response is still the "field to the northwest" thing, not the Moathouse. I can fix this one myself, just wanted to point it out. - I was thinking that it might be appropriate to create an option to have the Jeweler guy look at that ring. It would make sense that players might take a ring to the jeweler, the jeweler could conceivably know Black Jay since he lives just up the road, and it would give the jeweler something specific to be involved in. I suppose it could just be the Jaroo ring scene all over again with different dialogue. SPOILER Wondering a bit about the sequence of events - I went to the Moathouse before talking to Black Jay, just happened to look inside the one frog there, and found the ring. Is this how it's supposed to go or are there other clues elsewhere?
SPOILER I think it may be different for different alignments. Me, I found it in the possession of some kobolds in Deklo Grove (party alignment, NG).
Even before Goblin-Gone you could find the ring before talking to Black Jay. I believe that is the way it is supposed to be. You aren't given directions where to look. Black Jay definitely doesn't have any dialog about the ring until you show it to him.
Before I fix Jaroo's dialogue file re: goblin gone, I'll need to know for certain if there are other places besides the Moathouse where the ring can be found. If there are, and if they're all outside of Hommlet, we can simply say 'I found it in the wilds' or something like that to cover all the bases.
Found on kobolds at the deklo grove with a CG party. I think a general explanation would cover all bases once we know where it can appear.
I believe it can be found outside the Moathose and in the Delko grove, depending on the party alignment. As far as I know, those are the only two locations you can find it.
I fixed Jaroo's dialog to work with the Goblin Gone Mod, didn't realize he could be asked about the ring. Its in the cumulative Mods thread. As far as the quest for the ring goes I only moved the Goblin I did not alter the quest at all. It is now as it ever was you find the inscribed ring take it to Black Jay and it progresses from there. The location and means of obtaining it do differ by alignment.
