Posted this on the atari site too, just goofing around http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/mrtpigeon2003/lst?.dir=/My+Photos&.view=t
Just in case anyone here cares Ok, there are several ways to go about this and depending on what your goals are, you could do any one of them. I will list them in general, and if you are interested in an approach and do not know how to do it, ask I will address the one you want to do more specifically. 1) Use druid shape change feature, then change your changed shape to demon (hex edit your savegame). upside-you get demon stats (str dex con) only (this could be looked upon as downside too), only affects your pc downside-you are limited to what the shaped change monster does. Also may involve pretty significant hex editing. 2) Pick a race and change the model number to balor's number in protos.tab Upside- you keep your stats, no hex editing needed Downside- every pc (and possibly some npc's though I don't think so) of that race becomes the monster 3) Create your own race (hex editing and protos.tab) Upside - all upsides of choice 2, and removes 2's downside. Downside - not supported by the game and patches could cause your new race to crash. Also kind of a pain in the butt to do. There may be something I could do with the reincarnation spell too, but I did not find the spll script.
4) Change your race to balor -- involves simple hex edit You get ALL balors powers and abilities except feats and skills upside-only affects your character
Help! I know you posted the steps for doing #4 on the atari forums but unfortuneatly they've been done. Any chance of reposting that here? I'm very anxious to out some stuff. Thanks!
Get a hex editor like hackman... start a new character.. a human... Open the save file with hackman... your name.toee(or somethin) Open the protos.tab file... under races there is a number for each one... use the hex calculator to convert the deciman numbers to hex like.. 14444 -> 373f (i know thats not the right conversion shut up) then take the 37 3f and switch it around so its 3f 37 .. now search in you hex editor for c8 ... the right one will have 32 right after it so if it doesnt search again.... change the c8 to the 3f and the 32 to the 37 .... save... then run toee and pick your saved character to add to a party...
One REAL downside to using my blackpudding monk..... Blackpuddings DONT LEAVE CORPSES!!! THEY JUST FADE away... makes it impossible to raise them from the dead... you know.... without a corpse and all.... have to change that FADE_out or something tag int he protos.tab........
I would just like to add start from scratch as a Human Male or you won't find C8, and the exact number for the Balor is CE 37. Feel free to look up others in protos.tab.
[ghetto] HE was all wid da questions and i was all wid da Instructions like BAM!!! [\ghetto] Glad i could be of assistance... very little assitance with my vague instructions.... GODHAMMIT whats up with the atari forums.... [ghetto]I be wantin my patch n to tha NIZZOW![\ghetto]
Heh. Pretty neat. However the Balor doesn't fit in small doors... (I tried to visit Terjon and his "flammable" church, how appropriate) I noticed you don't get stat bonuses either with #4. Lastly, it is possible to change the description (e.g. Male Human, etc.) by editing about 20 bytes back from where you change the race. Human is "00 00 00 00", elf "00 00 02 00", etc. as in the description.mes file, I believe. Balor isn't there, I'm afraid. Andargor
