    Cocoa Puff is definitely a bad girl, as is Paida at heart. Could it be that Paida is either brainwashed to their way of thinking or simply likes the life of a power-broker's concubine more so than that of the wife of a cabinet maker?

    I know that the answers to both of those questions are supposed to be 'no,' but it brings up an interesting point: I've been reading a lot of discussion lately about the 'right' way to handle quests and subplots, etc., as though the main objective of many players is to be perfectly in sync with whatever master script was written out for their party's alignment. Bugs aside, wouldn't it be better to look upon every twist in this game as something that was intended to happen? For example, Paida goes back to the temple. Conscious gamer conclusion: something's wrong with the game. Roleplayer conclusion: I guess Marek (or whoever her husband is) back in Hommlet was putting her feet to sleep, and like so many others she ultimately answered the call of her dastardly nature and went back to live large with the high rollers.

    Just a thought.

    Hard to live with the High-Rollers...

    When I've killed them all. Only thing left living there that I know of is the druid disguised as a Hill Giant. Something else I'm encountering there. When fighting trolls on the 4th level for some reason after knocking either that troll or the last troll to fall in that group out it automatically causes the character that struck him down attempt an interrogation. To which the troll's answer is "I tell you nothing, you can't hurt me, I eat you." Automatically you answer "Burn the troll" and it starts combat again until you leave the troll unconsious again and pull a coup-de-gras(sp?)... kill shot.

    As for Paida she is also a key part in DH as you have to get something for her or from her to finish that part in DH. Telling her to leave appears to have made her leave the dungeon as she faded out of existance when told the coast was clear. It just didn't appear that she had returned to Hommlet as of the time I checked.

    Here is what some others might think and not say, openly. With respect to roleplaying, I would suggest there has been some attempt at brainwashing Paida. Due to the fact she returns, I would say the game designers intent was she has been introduced to multiple sex partners and is entirely addicted to dom/sub and bi-sex where it is specifically the sexual addiction and not so much having affection for or having the girl-power of OrientExpress and Hedrack.

    ['cause I know u R reading this - suggestion for] @ted: How about doing an alignment or charisma check or something compatible or reasonable that makes sense and fits for Paida being returned to Vaiden in Hommlet?
    * When Paida is returned to her husband in Hommlet, have Paida make a check against the Party Leader alignment or whatever is agreed to be used and also get Brad to hacksaw the DLL for Paida and set whatever is needed to determine whether she stays in Hommlet or returns back to the dungeon.
    What do you (and the modders) think...good or bad idea, cool or stupid?

    Update...

    Told Paida she could find her way out and though I got the pissed off response she faded out and has not been back since. I have the air and earth stones though I'm still playing around in the earth node; still a few Galeb-Duhrs to fight. Added Holy, Shocking burst, and Icy burst to the Frostbrand which have done far better against the Galeb-Duhrs than Scather has. I'm still wondering if the frost and Icy burst stacked because there is some serious damage going on there.
    Found out about the farmer's son being murdered with a poisoned dagger and went after Rannos and Gremag. Got the 'Swift Purveyor of Justice' reputation for killing both of them. Before I did it I sold them Hedrack's armor, shield, and hammer as a way of saying "Got your boss." (at least so my party might think.) I figured it might trigger a reaction since if you sell them Lareth's stuff it triggers the Assassin encounter.
    Another thing I noticed in the game: When guards decide to fight you it is interesting to see the weapons they go for. In the moathouse the guards carried spears and swords as well as daggers. For some reason rather than use their swords they all drew daggers when confronted. Their lieutennant when face to face with my elf kept trying to use his bow when he had a perfectly good sword at his belt. This kept drawing AoO from me rather than being smart and drawing his sword and the shield he was very capable of using.
    The same thing happened when facing the tower brigands but only with the rank and file brigands not the lieutenants or the leader. I'm not complaining but I just found it odd that they would be programmed in that manner.
    Many times I've seen it mentioned here that Nira the gem merchant in Hommlet gives the best price for gems and jewelry. I'm not so sure of this. Brother Smythe and Otis seem to pay just as much as Nira does. I sell through my rogue who has the appraise skill at around 18 with all bonuses due to high charisma. The price never seems to change.

    I've got a bowman in kotB who is set to be a 'sniper' (for memory), he will automatically 5' step to use his bow effectively and on one occasion, when surrounded, drew his sword without having to be told. I was pretty happy with it.

    If Paida 'faded out', i can tell u that folks who fade away don't come back, even if u might want them to. That is the conclusion I have drawn from testing, and I know others have got the same result too. Its a pity - I (and Endarire) would like Ronald to stomp off and go back to his room on occasion but it just doesn't work that way. 'Losing' a character on a map change, on the other hand - ie kicking them out of the party and leaving them standing there - will send them back where they came from. This seems to be what happens with Paida when u drop her off in Valden's house.

    Fyi, Paida's 'run_off' thing looks like this:
    Code:
    def run_off( attachee, triggerer ):
    	attachee.standpoint_set( STANDPOINT_NIGHT, 257 )
    	attachee.standpoint_set( STANDPOINT_DAY, 257 )
    	attachee.runoff(attachee.location-3)
    	return RUN_DEFAULT
    257 in jumppoint.tab is a reference to a location in Valden's house. Maybe she doesn't have her flags set, I don't know. I should look into that for my flag's tutorial ;)
    Sounds ok to me, but as I said in the guide to DH, the plans I had for her were abandoned as her file is a mess. This is just one of several things that don't work / weren't implemented etc. It'll take a modder with bigger ones than mine to try fixing it all.
    What a quaint expression :)

    If Paida doesn't show back up in Hommlet I cannot finish DH as she never even made any references to her part in DH. Granted it looks as if I cannot complete DH anyway. I cannot talk to the person holding the item Morgause was supposed to pass to me. All I get from the "employees" in the brothel is "You cannot come up here without talking to Ophilia first." Having done 2 missions in the brothel and going through all of the info Ophilia has I am at a standstill.

    *wow* That was generous of you, Ted!..very helpful and cool, indeed. Now, he won't have to go back to a previous game save and start over.

    Thank You

    Given the fact that I don't have multiple save games it would have meant a complete restart of my game. I'm not entirely sure on the 'Console in' of items. I understand how to set stats but when giving an item do I just type in the code left or is there a longer sequense similar to how you raise stats. It feels cheap but having that little red "botched" next to a mission feels even worse. (I botched the 'Burne's Quiz' misson)

    Thanks, and two new problems.

    During the fight with the Hezrou in the Water Node he was able to summon several quaists. During her turn I had Serena throw a +3 dagger that I had made for her at one of the quaists that was wounded. Her shot killed that quaist but there is where the problem came up. The quaist disappeared and apparently took the +3 dagger with it. I did not leave the node and that dagger is nowhere to be found. I tried the tab key but that revealed nothing. Serena now uses a pair of +3 rapiers since her dagger is gone.

    There are no 7th level cleric spells; I didn't see this in the Read-Me files.

    What exactly is that 'Children's Toy' found in Imryd's Run? Do I sell it? Is it a Figurine of Wonderous power: Centaur? (fat chance). Is it one of Curry Leaf's "toys"?

    It is a Figurine of Wondrous Power: Lamia. "Use" her from within the radial menu, and you've got a good ally.

    There should be something in the documentation about character levels above 10 not being completely supported by the game. If there isn't, that's my fault, and it will be remedied in the next release.

    Don't let her throw the rapiers.
