I have tried to find this elusive person, but to no avail. Any hint would be appreciated. Do you have to do a certain thing, be of a certain level or what? I am only asking in that it seems some have an easy time finding him (her) but not I. I am starting a new game and would like some advice. Thanks.

Don't kill Lareth. Ask around town. That's all you will get from me on this subject.

You are sure this is not the merchant in Nulb, right?. I found him but Liv's merchant is not so easy. I guess I will try this but we will see. I am assured that finding this merchant is worth it, I hope.

Oh yes it is worth it, especially for evil groups who are quick to anger in Hommlet.

Having found out how to get Liv's trader, I can tell you that when my Vebobonc mod is released, there are going to be a lot of people begging me to provide spoilers about how to get the Bazarre of the Bizaar trader working - naturally, my lips are sealed.

Thank you. Do you mean not engage him at all, or engage him and let him go? I am not asking for direct details, as finding out is the fun, but I would hate to play a group over and over for trial and error. I am assuming you mean Hommlet, not Nulb.

Just don't kill him when he begs for his life.

Yes, so I get it. But then what? Do you wait out the entire game, whom do you ask to illicit the response to get the merchant. Understand, I love the game, and I am at the point with a NG party that has found Lareth captured, but I am trying to prevent multiple tries of a game I have played through already 20+ times to find this merchant. I am not asking for the circumstances, but only who to talk to regarding how to get to him. I am not a 24 hour gamer that can go through all possible variances, so I am only asking for directions, and I can go from there. Thanks.

You know, there aren't THAT many people in Hommlet...

So you found Lareth captured. Have you tried, hmmm, I don't know, freeing him?

And that, seriously, is all you are going to get out of me. Period.

If you can't follow every plot to it's end, you can't expect to find everything. That's part of the fun of the game.

Yes, but you understand that a NG party, playing the alignment correctly, SHOULD'NT free him. So my point: how does a LG party get the merchant and NOT free him. They would NEVER let an evil Lolth priest free, so I am assuming that the merchant is available to at best neutral or evil parties. I guess being a good guy always gets you last as usual.

Thanks for the help though, I dread having to play through 25+ times to get it. Trial and error is only fun if you are a chemist.

If you're dead set on role-playing it, you could justify letting him live on the basis that he promises to show your party how to get to the Temple, which a NG party *should* want to raze to the ground...
Think of Lareth more as your prisoner than as an NPC, and your conscience will be clean ;)

Anyway, as Allyx said, the merchant is better for evil parties.
    It's your call though.

Great. Thank you. But despite letting him go I still cannot find him despite the obvious advancement my party has made. Whom in Hommlet do I go to? What from letting him go and being in the Tower do I ask then? I have asked everyone in Hommlet at least twice (since entering the dungeon) and still to no avail. You would think it would be more obvious than this................

I suggest you check your personal messages. My hunt was successful, but with a rather suprising twist that needs some explaining. It kind of defeats the purpose of the merchant, but I nevertheless found it but I am rather upset that all of the work seems to be for nothing.

Can someone please delete the semi-spoiler posts with no spoiler space. They are irritating and ... spoilery.
