Right, it's my second time through the game. Well, one and a half. Once I discovered Co8 mods I killed the previous one and started again with the patches and mods in place (for a much better experience, thanks!). I've been trying to do something about Shenshock and company for the last day or so. Ugh! I've got loads of trouble with him as he starts the combat with protection spells all over him so I need to do about 400 points of damage before anything really penetrates. Toss in his fear spells (which seem to override my Paladin's ability to inspire courage) and the endless elementals! Urgh. Oh, and I hate tripping bugbears. Any advice on how to put him away? I've finished everything else up until Shenshock (in his room) but haven't confronted Hedrack yet.
Try some spells of your own, beginning with a Globe (or at least a Minor Globe) of Invulnerability. You can also try to keep some of those elementals away with some Grease or Entanglement. Chain Lightning & Flame Strike are favorites of mine as well; especially once caught up in the 'tangle. Summon some elementals of you own into the fray, or summon a monster or two to give the baddies someone else to focus on besides YOU. One last thought: Haste your team; Slow his team.
Stomped Arse on Senshock. I found it best to concentrate everything on senshock during the fight. My rogue and the fighter I designated as an archer pounded on him. The rogue got two sneak attacks first round, one of which was a critical with her +3 mighty composite longbow(+4 strength bonus). My elven fighter and my fighter that I gave Scather to both went after Senshock as well. My barbarian held off the water elemental, my mage opened up the fight targeting a fireball on the two captains in the room killing one and the quaist with him. My cleric dropped a Holy Smite right into the combat and blinded Senshock as well as killing the second captain and his quaist. The wizard never got a spell off without one of the two fighters spoiling it for him. Senshock's protections dwindled quickly and he was dead within 3 rounds. As for the rest of the fight I got to use Rightious Might for the first time on my cleric who fought the fire elemental in single combt and defeated it. Serena a 3rd lvl rogue/ 3rd lvl fighter whome I set up to dual wield a +3 rapier and a +3 dagger actually defeated one of the air elementals but took serious damage doing so.
You could also run around a bit and go do some other stuff on that level first. If you spend some time elsewhere, you can catch him and his lieutenants roaming the corridors, and then take them out alone (which is much easier). I've not really had any troubles with old Senny...
throw a high level raging barbarian in his direction, just make sure the barbarian doen't have a sence of humor.
confusion spell, disintegrate spell, feeblemind spell...use suggestion or charm monster to have his own troops attack him.
Save before the fight. Cast Suggestion on Senshock. If the spell fails, re-load and try again. Not only will he help you take out the elementals, but after the fight you can take him to Nulb or to the spider tower, remove his bracers of defense etc, and bushwhack him
