I got a couple of idea's, the first involves a druid with the entangle spell and everyone equipped with ranged weapons:wyatt: , secondly you could do other things until your about 4th level, then drop him in melee like a bad habit.:chainsaw:
Corvair, you made the same in the General Discussion forum. Please delete the identical post in the other forum, that is - the one in the General Discussion forum. > Use Fireball, Entangle, and various other spells that will do or allow your party to do ranged attacks. > You can summon creatures to attack it and allow your party to do ranged attacks. > If you can't cast Fireball, make a wand of Fireball. You could also recruit Elmo and Otis.
 Spam, Spam Spam, Spam..... Spam, Spam Spam, Spam..... Spam...we love the spam....cause we all spam... We love the Spam.....!
O Bevan, I thought u were so rugged! I love this fight - anyone who waits til they r high level is a big girly-man! Ranged spells, ranged weapons, spiritual weapon, web, entangle, grease - any spell to keep the bugger at a distance while u mow him down. Also Ray of Enfeeblement.
Hill Giants have a highly developed sense of humour. Make him laugh and then make his bear eat him. :yikes:
I'm sure this will be of no help, but the most amusing way I have offed that hill giant was when I happened to have a couple shadows tagging along with the party. As soon as combat started, the shadows and hill giant/bear went for each other. The hill giant and bear couldn't touch the shadows (needed magical weapons to hit them), and the shadows only rarely hit the giant and bear, but when they did they did strength damage. After a long time the giant and bear were down to zero strength, and my party moved in and finished them off easily.
If your level is pretty low, then definitely getting some of the "locals" to help is important. Web, magic missile, and Melfs arrow are a great combination to take this guy down.
