TIPS & TRICKS for ALL

Here are a few tips and tricks I have learned about but not seen elsewhere. If they help you (or you've seen/experienced them), let me know. Thanks.

1. If you take Zuggmatoy's gems DON'T sell OR trade them to another player UNLESS you have a burning desire to become her NEW THRONE! (You can not undo the spell that changes your character into the throne either...)

2. UNLIMITED $ (Platinum): When doing the quest for Filkin and you find the farmer (the one with 'the plan for his family and poor crops') outside of Filkin's barn/house one night, all you need to do is continually keep talking to him and demand he give you the $ he stole from Filikin. Doing this will net you 5 Platinum. Continue to do this as long as you like!!! (Just don't talk to Filikin about it at all or that'll end the glitch!!!)

3. Sorcerers can use a lower level spell if all the spells for that level have been used up, but the use of that spell will take 1 from the next highest slot instead. (ie you can cast the Lvl 1 Identify spell as long as you have lvl 2,3,4,5,6 spell slots available!)

4. Don't socket the Golden Skull!!! Keep the gems and use the powers anyway - that way you will automatically get a bonus spell for each gem!!! That bonus is the ability to Teleport to the home realm of that gem! (Saves a lot of time walking!!!)

5. If the Guardian of the elemental gate summons another being like itself, you will be able to get 2 GEMS (1 from each)!!! THAT is quite a benefit - ESPECIALLY the FIRE GEM!

6. Don't destroy the skull!!! Waste of time! It's destruction is supposed to weaken Zuggmatoy, but really doesn't do much to weaken her! (If not destroyed, she has 715 HP - if destroyed, she has 600 HP) You give up A LOT of powerful summoning spells if you do that - and for just 100HP? NO WAY! YOU lose much more than Zuggmatoy does!

7. Cast "Magic Circle" ON the big bosses (Elemental Guardians = use chaos / Zuggmatoy = use Chaos OR EVIL) It will imprison them and make them 'sitting ducks'!!!

8. Don't kill Mira (Homlet's jeweler). He gives you the best prices for the gems and jewelry that you sell. You CAN kill him WITHOUT the normal penalty (ie town attacks you on sight) BUT it's best not to, so you can get more gold to make better gear.

9. Don't forget that you can create your characters with all 18's!!! That'll help in cast spells, AC bonus, to hit/dodge, and dmg....seveal places mention this one...

Well, #3 isn't a bug. It's the way sorcerers (and bards) are supposed to work.

#5 should be fixed by my protos.tab fix and CB's inventory fixes once they're up and running.

When you get the Half Dagon Ogre's Sword, go back to hommlet and to the blacksmith. You should be able to assign that weapon even if it says "The Weapon is to large to be wielded".It' s a rather powerful weapon that makes good damages. Anyway you should not unassign it as you would never be able to assign it again ^^

huh it seems good, I've got Co8 Mod with just 0rion's fix I think. As I always played the game this way, I can't say how it is compared to anything else lol
For he Ogre he stays along with Hedrack during the battle for access to the nodes. The sword is a 3d6 huge greatsword +1, here's a pic of the inventory:

all 18s!!! ftw LEET DUDE, oh an HAXZOR FOR INFINITY CASH, wheres my +10 vorpal 3d6 huge sword !!!!! and all other stuff that doesnt exsist in the offical rules. or are at least a lil bit balanced..... whats the point???

If you like a character with all 18 stats, use the Ferros Editor. Make a new character, but don't make a party yet. Use the editor and give the new character all 24 stats (or all 36 stats).
* Just do not give the new character a 44 or higher stat and don't let training and increasing stats increase any of the stats above a score of 43. This means you should have one stat 36 and all the other stats 43 and never increase any of the 43 stats if you want to take it that far due to technical reasons in the game program [so game legend has it].
Start a new game, add that character and make that character the party leader. *smirk*

 

man after finishing the game normally, I always start a new game to have some fun with console commands. I did the same with BG series and Icewind Dale series. so don't cry this way...

There was a certain fun to be had with playing Uber, I must agree, I've done it once or twice in PnP. But that was a looong time ago.

But you will always upset purists, like myself, by "bragging" about it. Some will speak up about it, and many will agree, some won't of course.

I happen to agree with Virtual Spacey about the lack of fun in Uber-cheated games in general, and was going to say something about it, but in a not-so-infalmmatory fasion (I hope)

Something like-

Well, Scotty, if Uber is the only way you can WIN the game, then perhaps you are playing it wrong? I much prefer the way I have beaten it a couple times, with characters with "Normal" or "Slightly Decent" stats. Beating a game by cheating all the way is nothing to brag about, but beating it with your and your R/L buddies R/L stats, is very rewarding, try it sometime!
