My ToEE has been freezing very frequently lately. It did this both before and after I added more RAM to my system. It only freezes during dialoges; during the freeze the screen turns entirely black (monitor is still on), and I can still hear the game music. No matter how long I leave it running for, the game never comes back (as sometimes works for other freezes). Ctrl+Alt+Delete shows the game as responsive still, until I tell it to forcefully end the task, then the program shows up as unresponsive. Once I've force stopped the game, It will not load again unless I restart the system. I'm currently running the Co8 4.0.0 patch with the Atari Patch 2. I'm downloading the Atari Patch 1 right now to see if uninstalling it and adding Patch 1 to it before adding Patch 2 corrects the problem. I wonder if it's some stupidity with my HP computer and all of the extra programs that came with the system. I'm about ready to buy a new Windows XP to start with a clean slate.
It is probably a driver issue of some sort. fyi - If I were in your position, I would take a close look at the motherboard drivers that are installed and go from there.
I'm not sure how to check this. Frequent freezes happens when I run Civilizations 4, but never with lower end games like Baldur's Gate 1 or 2 and Icewind Dale 1 or 2. Thanks for the help.
