Well, I finished DH quest, and went to visit a few people back in Homeltt-- some interesting things--

    1. Meleny's dad attacks me. Says something about losing her or hurting her, but as far as I can recall she's never died, and was right there with me. Weird.

    2. What's the sandalwood box for? Is there some hidden meaning behind it?

    3. I appreciated getting to "off" the bad guys at the end of DH, but what about Lila- she was the "root" of the DH evil quests, right? She didn't even show any remorse about her brother dying. Also I didn't see Elmo say anything about his Uncle being evil in the final DH battle, though that was mentioned in the DH walkthrough, and I did have Elmo with me.
And was it significant that the demon (summoned, I presume) took off in the middle of the final DH baddies getting there a$$es kicked? I didn't miss out on anything did I?

    4. WTF is up with Frank? I thought he was in on the whole DH thing, don't I get to "legitimately" wipe him out?

    5. Paida was back in the concubine room- the sl*t. She just said something to me that made no sense- "You've changed since you rescued me, and not for the better" What is that supposed to mean? I do not have the Butcher of Homelett Rep- but I did kill the baddies at the end of DH, was, perhaps, she alluding to being mad at me for that? Was she on their side?

I guess most of these questions are directed to ShiningTed, but the first and last may have nothing to do with his Mod, so everyone pitch in please :)

All in all, I liked the quest, but probably mostly because I got to be a good guy at the end. And it was very, very nice, Ted, that you filled out the game with quite a few more things to do in it that were fun :)

Re: the daemon - he used to, and may still cause a CTD when he dies. the fix was to have him run off so you couldn't kill him - and then complain that the game crashed

I haven't played DH, but considering Gwenno's already in there, I'm guessing that the sandalwood box is another little reference to Ultima. IIRC, it belong ed to Lord British in Ultima V, and was some kind of plot item. Not sure, I never completed Ultima V.

    1. Unrelated to DH, i suspect. It is indeed the "Meleny is dead" flag being set, I can't imagine how DH could have done that.

    2. Try using it :)

    3. Did Elmo chat to his Uncle? I should have thought they both made it clear they didn't get along... of course, I am pretty limited to what I can use for Elmo dialogue-wise. Try taking Otis along next time as well ;) He makes his feelings very clear to his uncle, and to you too if you butt in.

    4. Frank's part is long since over. Does he look like a witch to u?

    5. Paida, I have noticed (as have others) says that a lot. Not sure why. Also unrelated to DH, though.

    Anyways, glad u liked it!

I've noticed that Padia keeps returning to the Concubine's room as well - perhaps she likes Murrain? ;-)

Thanks Ted, and all. It was a fun quest, and I shall "use" the sandalwood box to see what it does.

Shame about Frank CTDing though, he woulda been kewl to rid Homlett of. And NO, Ted, he doesn't look like a witch, but apparently he loans sugar to them. :)

Elmo didn't get a chance to chat with his uncle, but as I am probably about to start another group soon --My "Perfect" group, I will see if I can have Otis along next time.

Any way we can actually get the Meleny is dead flag thing fixed?

Paida is a ho, she must like Murrain, the "dazed" was probably coke :) and she realized her only option upon coming out of it was to go along with the party, until she could come back later- I'll probably find Valden dead in his bed when I return to Homlett, thanks to the evil hussy!

Ted-did I miss out on anything when the little demon (i.e. not a Balor) bugged out in the final DH battle?

No not at all. Thats the daemon's job, smack you a bit then leave when he's taken 20% damage (or so, for memory).

BTW, Frank is not factioned, so if u really wanna just kill him, meh go ahead. I didn't script anything for him either, shouldn't be as hard a fight as some other Balors* who show up. I realise people take one look at him and think "XP!!!!!!!!!" but the thought of trying to script a proper combat in that little room - bah humbug!

    * not that I'm saying he's a Balor...

Yeah, and you have to give the man credit for the sweet, dulcet, honeylike voice of the Orb, too. :sweatdrop

But hey, I've always been a fan of a little sarcasm. I even saved a game just before visiting with ol' Saduj just so I could get both of his nephews in my otherwise NPC-less party and enjoy their... happy reunion. Or something. Now THAT was inspired.

I found it hilarious when Paida kept returning to the Hedrack's playhouse. Here is how I imagined it:

Heroine: "Paida! How come you are here? We just returned you to your hubby six hours ago!"
Paida: "Umm... I was kidnapped? It happens, you know."
Heroine: "Not this fast. And why did you steal my Raise Dead scroll and why are you dragging Hedrack's corpse?"

No, that did not happen, but considering the soap opera elements in the game it would have been appropriate.

Other fun things also happened with Paida. I had taken her along with me as she made fine sorcerer. Besides Valden should be grateful that his wife can barbeque just with her spells. Saves some woodchopping, you know.

Anyway, there I was, laying some serious smackdown to another guy with excema - Harold, I think his name was. Harold said something naughty, causing some people to wet their pants. Since I am a bit rusty on my D&D rules, I just thought on the fly to try out Break Enchantment, so as to wipe the bad imagery brought to the minds of people... and one of the people who was affected was Paida. So, there she was, giving her original rescue speech. Things went a tad funny... at least the way how I interpreted on the events:

Paida: "Oh, you have freed me. It was terrible... he made me do terrible things. Thank you for rescuing me!"
Heroine: "My poor Paida... come here for a hug. We will take care of you. No one will ever hurt you again."
    Paida: "Sniff."
    Harold: "Umm... Excuse me?"
    Heroine and Paida: "What?"
Harold: "We are supposed to be fighting. Remember?"
Heroine: "Do not listen to the big meanie. Here, have a hanky."
Harold: "Come on... can't you focus a bit? You come here, crash my poker night with my efreet buddies and then can't fight without breaking into sobs? Women..."
Heroine and Paida: "What did you say?"
*Women launch a flurry of spells aimed at Harold.
    Harold: "AAAARGH!"
    *dies*

    It was fun.

Oh, and I do think the game is soap opera. Heck, after saving the world, heroine married Lazslo (or whoever he was), had scores of kids, and then eloped with her girlfriend. The end credits said so.

Uhm, raised dead, right - not resurrected? Maybe if someone gets time, they'll work on that (the dialogue you noticed).
