One of the NPC's you can pick up during the game is Zaxis, a wandering bard whom you meet on the overland map in a chance encounter. He's a great guy to have in your party, especially if you don't already have a bard. His lines are some of the funniest in the game, and his choice of spells isn't bad - although he mutli-classed as a fighter rather than continuing as a bard when I kept him alive long enough to level-up later. Zaxis is looking for his sister, a half-elf named Ima. This goal so consumes him that, unlike many of the other NPC's in the game, he will take off after leaving your party instead of standing around or returning to where you found him. I never have been able to find her, though. I thought she might be one of the concubines in the Temple, but I have since found out that isn't the case. Where oh where could Ima be? Is she even in the game?
well, imo, she is dead in the area where the hill giant is in emridy meadows (you find a jaunty hat and some gear that is suggestive of a bard-type char, and some elven chain - she was an elf, right?)
Interesting theory, sir_toejam. One of my characters wears that armour now and I never even made the connection!
mmm, then again... i found 4 suits of elven mail of various degrees of power... or was that 5 or 6? i know i had to sell a bunch... so it could have been her in any of those locations, the poor gal... that or she is a concubine or just somewhere else entirely...
I'll try to find it more exactly, but IIRC there is a note from her in Level 4 South Central. No body.
Found in the side room opposite where Kella hangs out- "Tattered Piece of Paper Dear Zaxis, I pray that you will one day find this note. It was a mistake to leave home without you. I have missed you. And I miss our parents. My days shall end soon, I fear. I can only hope that I will die quickly. My memories of your beautiful songs are all that keep me alive… May Fharlanghn watch over you! Your loving sister, Ima" I don't know if someone else has found this already, or if it is an addition from one of the sainted modders, or anything else. I once hoped the other concubine might be her- at least she would be alive. I'll have to bring Zaxis here to get a local TV reporter question (So, how did it feel, finding your sister's note from the grave?)
I've traipsed back and forth trying to find Zaxis again after finding that note and the red mystic garb, but he's no where to be found. I hope I didn't kill him and forget. Can I console him in? I also came across an adventurer party but reloaded to see if I could kill them, but I never met them again. They were after a bejewelled statue in a monastery. ~
Re: Zaxis and his sister, Ima *spoiler* I ran into the same problem, after encountering Zaxis, accepting him into my party, and being a good Samaritan by equipping him and sending him on his way, I was never able to encounter him again. You should be able to encounter him at the brothel if you never allow him into the party and just send him off. I checked his script, and don't see why he wouldn't respawn if you allow him into your party, but I am new to it. To compensate, I spawned Zaxis at the first floor of the brothel, by the tables. using the console command "create 14331". Apart from Zaxis acting as though he had never met me, there were no problems afterward. Just ran through his dialog, recruited him, and if I dismiss him at the brothel, he stays put. As far as the five adventurers go, it took a long time for me to run into them. At first I thought it was related to the number of pc's in my party, but it wasn't. It just takes awhile sometimes. Once you encounter them, you won't get to see them agan. Since, if I'm reading your post correctly, your save is before encountering them, you should run into them again, sooner or later.
If you tell Zaxis no when he asks about joining the party, well let's just say he goes elsewhere looking to make his own party. And, what kind of party does Zaxis like, nothing better than a strip club for party entertainment. Yes, Zaxis likes the Girls of Nulb.
Hah, the adventuring party is a reference to that picture of the thief trying to snag the jewelled eye out of a goblin statue. How cool is that. You can see the updated picture on the cover of the PHB II I think. On the subject of zaxis and his sister, if you have the person holding the *tattered piece of paper* talk to him, you get a different conversation option. Following that gives you some resolution to the story, and the tattered piece of paper becomes part of Zaxis' inventory. prototype00
I love that picture - it's one of those where you think - that stature is going to wake up aaaany time now.... The Zaxis resolution was modded in wasn't it? It blends in so well I can't remember now inkkirby
i'm not sure, but i think that zaxis says "She is a wizard by trade and she has specialised in the college of illusion" and "she is half elven like myself" so she should me more like a wizard than a bard.
