How can I tell if patch applied correctly?

I think I have installed co8 patch but I'm not sure I've done it right.Please could someone tell me if there is an easy way to check,a version number or a visible change to game (just entered Hommlet for first time).

 

Get some heavery helmet, boot or gloves and see if they reduce movemnet or not. If not then it is correct

 

This might be a dumb question but as a newbie I'd be grateful if you could tell me how to check if movement is reduced.

 

It is below your stats on inv screen should be 30.0 without anything on...

 

Looks like a problem here.
Bought chainmail armour,weight 40.
Gave to fighter,when in inventory speed=30,when equipped speed=20.
Does this mean I have not installed patch correcctly?

If so please could you tell me what to do?

Game installed to D:\Program files\Atari\Temple of Elemental Evil.

Folder is Atari\Temple of Elemental Evil.

Where shold I install patch to?

 

the armor *should* be reducing speed. The chainmail boots or chainmail gloves should not.
