If there is support for an "extraplaner" subtype, it's not listed in my current protos.tab (just did a search with ProtoEd - no results).
Okay, thanks. So that's a goof in ToEEWB, then. I've been changing the spelling to the correct one as I've been working, but I worry I may have missed some.
A bit more on this: I am using patch 3.0 without the co8 patch. I know...I am missing out on a lot of good stuff. But the last time I unistalled TOEE. I couldn't reinstall it - I had to buy a new set of disks....so I am a bit leery aobut trying it again. Anyway, the big problem with this particular bug is that Elmo is stll taking up space in the party - he has an icon at the bottom - and he is still collecting experience points. After one battle, in which he obviously didn't participate, because he's not actually there, he "leveled." I mean..he got the level animation.
There may be a console command to kill Elmo off, other than that I don't really know what to say... Apart from give Elmo all your stuff and use him as an unseen servant, at least you wont be encumbered.
Have you tried using the console to,... ...spawn in a new Elmo, in a random encounter map? Don't see why having a duplicate would be a problem, since you lost him in a random encounter map anyway. My fault, what I mean is, spawn him, talk to him, and dismiss him. I don't think you can do that on a random map, I think you have to be in Hommlet.
You are pretty well doomed to live without a useful Elmo. You can't edit the .dlg file because it's not available. Don't bother with atari 3. If you've got a good handle on the game, just play 4.0. Just follow the instructions and have a good time. 4.0 is the way to go. It works good.
I don't know for sure if this will work, but try this. Open the console and type: Code: pc.follower_remove(game.party[x]) Where x = the position of Elmo in the party lineup at the bottom of the screen minus one, i.e. if Elmo is the 6th portrait from the left in the party lineup at the bottom of the screen, then x = 5. Empty his inventory before you do this. If it works he may show up in Hommlett again, or he may just be gone for good. If he is gone for good, and you really want him back, open the console again and type Code: create 14013 This will respawn him right on top of your lead PC. You can talk to him and get him to join again, but he will be 4th level. You will have to use the console add xp to get him back to his old level. See the List of Console Commands sticky thread for how to do this. Oh, and let us know if this worked.
All you need to do is go to a prior save and skip dialogue with that party. exact same thing happened with my npcs when I encountered this group of adventurers (Ikian & co). After I talked to them, my 3 npcs - Fruella, Spugnoir, Burne - became little blue circles on the ground. Except their animations were gone. Thankfully I quicksave a lot, and even made a hard save for such an unusual encounter, went back to the encounter, tried different dialogue options, tried combat, and finally just went back to the savegame and left the area without talking to them. Things back to normal. (oh and as a side note, I am running some mish-mash of Co8 5.00 with patch 3 (never could get the TOEFFEE to run, so...). Do have a few glitches like the 511 magic missile, tried the Moebius patch to no avail, or botched dialogue with my npcs where I can't ask them to leave as they behave as if they're outside the party!)
If your still having problems with the 511 magic missile bug, then the Co8 portion of your mish mash install can't be working properly. If I were you Daniel, I'd try re-installing again. You can install 5.0.0 without the frontend option, just uncheck the frontend option in the installer. playing without the frontend will require you to rename the modules/Co8-5.0.0 folder to modules/ToEE before adding additional fixes (like the Cumulative Fixes) before adding it to your install. Could it be that the frontend won't work because you don't have Microsoft.NET 1.1 or 2.0 installed? .NET is required for the frontend to work.
hey Chainmailed Grinner, thanx! er... I'm actually doing the dumbest hing here... I am still posting here but am not playing currently anymore as my pc won't support direct x9!!! :drunk: :drunk: I'm referring to the game as I left it at my girlfriend's parents' computer 600km from here!!! guess Essex is closer to my place (Paris) than that computer! I did have both versions of Microsoft Net installed. But I really appreciate your help, when I upgrade my pc and install the game I will definitely try that!!! If I may, I might seek your advice then... especially if I run into trouble reloading my savegames!
I can certainly try to help, but chances are that with a fully working version of Co8-5.0.0 your saves will be incompatable anyway - not much we can do about that I'm afraid. However you will be able to use the same characters, but you will have to start from scratch at level 1.
yup I know that... however I managed to get my Co8 4.0 savegames from this winter to run on TOEE without the front end (and without the file swap you suggested above!). The game would launch with a "5.00" header though, and while some things were implemented - Nulb brothel, giants head quest, masterwork shop, and desperate housewives dialogues, some were not - Verbobonc, DH creatures, orc cave, etc. Plus my PCs starting naked with no equipment of course, lol. So maybe it could work after all? Anyway, no big deal if it doesnt, I'll start from scratch.
Some things will work, some things won't. Overall, it's better for one's sanity to start a new game to avoid any problems. But different strokes for different folks
