...I added a set of requirements in the item_creation.mes file to try and enable the unused craft magic arms and armor qualities. When I added ("SSilence" C5) to AE_SILENT_MOVES, as per the DM's guide, the option is now greyed out to my character. None of the other options like bashing, blinding, etc. are enabled. Am I correct in assuming that these functions are hard coded in the engine and immutable? Anyone ever had any luck in introducing new lines into the interface, or have any idea where I should look to go about doing so? So far, I'm just running through all the files I extracted in the hopes of finding the part linked to the interface and correcting it. These functions are listed in the help.tab, and even the rules to use them are listed. It's evident they were meant to be implemented in the game, but either they were unworkable, or just ignored as the product was rushed out.
Unfortunately that stuff is all hard coded, about 8 - 10 months ago I managed to fix the shocking burst effect (did cold damage), but couldn't fix the icy burst effecr (did negative energy damage) but all I did effectively is swap the names around. But if you wanna give it a go, try by all means but adding new effects means hacking the .dll (something not many of us can do without breaking the whole thing).
Thanks Allyx. Just realized, you already added stuff to the interface when you introduced new items. I'll keep looking, doesn't hurt to try, I guess. Maybe I'll get lucky. All this stuff stems from wanting to "fix" a game. Who says "cheaters never prosper"? For instance, rewriting Jenelda's dialog so I could annul my dwarven cleric's marriage to Bertram. Don't laugh. First off, he was married to Fruella. Second, I wanted Bertram's hat. Hope it worked, or I'm going to have a very funky ending slide show.
Speaking of the starting caravan- has anyone else noticed a certain INT increasing crown in there??!!
