I just finished clearing the moathouse, and while Burne acknowleges that I have done so, the quest in the logbook sill appears as 'Accepted'. No big deal, I continued playing. When I got to Nulb and started picking up quests there, I noticed that none of them are getting added to the logbook which is making it difficult to track what I need to do. I found in the 'common issues and solutions' thread a reference to this issue where it recommends to move any NPCs out of the first party spot. I do not have any NPCs at all, so that can't be the problem (poor Elmo was slain by a Hill Giant and Fruella was, well, I'd rather not speak of it!). Is there another known possible cause for this issue?
If you look carefully at the logbook,... ...you'll see two tabs that you can click on, one says "Hommlet", the other Nulb. Nulb quests will be in the section labeled "Nulb".
re. Burne. Just had a little peek through his dialogue and he doesn't seem to actually give out the moathouse quest (well he does, but it doesn't get create the logbook entry).* What alignment is your party? You could try Terjon if you want the quest completed. *does this need changing guys? Don't mind doing it at some point (got a lot on RL and the snippet of Verbobonc dlg I'm doing for Allyx comes first), but only if you want it in if there is an alignment which Terjon doesn't reward for doing the quest.
Arg, so I am 0 for 2 on this thread, not off to a good start in establishing myself in this community. You were right, Zebedee, it was in fact Terjon that gave me the quest and he did indeed close it out after I followed the appropriate dialog chain with him. Dunno why I thought it was Rufus that gave me the quest, I think Rufus told me where the mouthouse was after I helped with the spies, and I assumed that was where the quest came from. My bad! Thanks for the help. I'll be back to post another dumb question shortly...
@Gratim - no, the Burne thing confused me too when I looked at his dialogue file. He does seem to give out the quest from what he says, but it just isn't hooked up to the logbook. So it's easy to see how confusion could be caused. @maalri - hmm, Terjon or Jaroo won't give it to you? (only got a few of the dlg files on this laptop or I'd load it up to check myself)
Curiously, any NPC mentioning the "evil bandits" at the Moathouse and marking it on your map seems to trigger that quest's "accepted" status. I'm using a CN party for my current breakage testing and the quest is in my log. All right, Lareth, dance! :wyatt: Blair "And I will be waiting right here for you to rid me of the terrible curse of virginity..."
The quest won't complete for me, either, even after talking to Terjon (and doing Emridy Meadows for him). I assume it's because I have the "Friend of Lareth" reputation. As he joined the party and I killed him imediately without kicking him out first, I think the game thinks that the Moathouse was never actually cleared, although the guards in the Broken Tower know he's dead. ~
