    Re: Current mods & patches

Have just played through ToEE again with the 4.0.0 patch, really great job by Co8!

The opening scene "trader's caravan", where you can equip your characters at the start of the game --- is there any way to return to that AFTER the entering Hommlett and starting the game? I can only see it listed on the "Current Map" map screen in Hommlett, but seems to be no way to travel back to it (e.g., to buy some of those nice composite STR 18 bows, after getting some cash).

Nope. The ShopMap (that's what we call that Traders Caravan) is only accessable at the begining of the game. It is only there to provide your party with starting equipment. And that is the way it will most likely stay, unless Allyx is planning on using it for his Verbobonc mod.

I don't plan on a re-visit to the shopmap, but there will be traders who are very similar in design in Verbobonc.

    Re: Current mods & patches

Hello all. Computer challenged newbie here. I was wondering if I could obtain some assistance. I have run into several problems in getting the 4.0.0 Mod to work correctly.
I have solved the first few by browsing around the various threads, but I cannot find any info on my last error message. I installed Atari's official patches 1 and 2, then installed the Mod Pack 4.0.0. I chose to use Frontend, but when I try to launch it I get the error message "this program must be started from Temple of Elemental Evil root folder". How do I accomplish this? Any help put into the simplest terms would be GREATLY appreciated.

Go to your Temple of Elemental Evil root folder. The default location for this is C:\Program File\Atari\Temple of Elemental Evil. Find the Front End exe in this folder and double click on it. If Front End starts, it most likely means that you have a bad shortcut on your desktop. If you have no Front End exe in that folder, then you installed 4.0.0 into a different location. If you have Front End exe in that folder, but no data folder, then you have ToEE installed in a different location than the one you installed 4.0.0 in. If either of these cases are true, reinstall 4.0.0 into the correct location.

:anger: Damn! It worked, but now the options screen did not come up. I did not get to set level cap or choose the Trader's Caravan. Is there any way to fix this or do I have to start the installation over?

So are all those new items randomly placed throughout the game?, otherwise I am going to regret not buying that darkwood shield when I had the chance.

Anyway just wanted to add, a big thank you to all you all guys, your work is awesome and much appreciated. as a person who supported this game all the way from it's original announcement by Troika. Seeing it still has legs is the best part of it all,as you know no developer has the stones to release a game as "good" as this.

I beleive Ah Fong (incuded with the desperate housewives quest, and the playful NPC's 1.3 patch) sells the darkwood shield and his inventory is respawnable.

The the game started but the option screen did not come up, then what you double clicked on was ToEE.exe, not TempleFrontend.exe. You need to find TempleFrontend.exe. If it is not in your Toee root directory ( or a folder called data.Co8-4.0.0) then you installed Co8-4.0.0 somewhere other than your root directory. I would suggest unistalling Co8 4.0.0, and then reinstalling, making sure that you install it in the same place ToEE is installed.

    Re: Current mods & patches

Alright, I reinstalled Co8 4.0.0 in the same place ToEE is installed. I got a new error. This one says "0002:Error:One of the game folders can't be accessed! Make sure that no other application uses any of the game folders, then try again." How is this done? Also, during the setup of the 4.0.0 Mod Pack, the install directs you to indicate your ToEE install folder as its destination location. Is this correct, and I did something wrong?

This sounds better, believe it or not. Were you trying to start the Front End from the ToEE root directory?. You can't have the root directory open when you run Front End, not in a window or minimized or anything. Try closing all window, restarting your computer and then launch Front End from the shortcut on the desktop again.

But, before you do this, verify that you have the following things in your ToEE root directory:

    data folder
    data.Co8-4.0.0 folder
    TempleFrontEnd.exe

    Re: Current mods & patches

In my ToEE root directory I have an application file called TempleFrontend, and a rich text format file called the same. No sign of TempleFrontEnd.exe though.

    Re: Current mods & patches

If you highlight TempleFrontend, and look at the sidebar on the left, I bet it tell you it is TempleFrontend.exe, or at least that it is an executable file (XP default settings don't show file extensions). That is good. That means it is where it needs to be. Create a shortcut to it, and drag the shortcut to the desktop (if you have any other shortcuts to Front End on you desktop, delete them). Close all windows, then double click on the shortcut you just put on the desktop, and see what happens.

I got the same error message. One of the game folders cannot be accessed. Make sure no other application uses any of the game folders.
