My guess would be you're right about it being a side-effect of the Humble NPCs patch. I know previous to that, the lizard showed up in the dead Enchantress' inventory, but it was not lootable.
I don't like to bag Drifter's work because it was damn good, but if Humble NPCs works by breaking the OIF_NO_DROP flag, well, that ain't good.
Ted, from your posts regarding Ah Fong, I assume he's supposed to refresh his inventory. However, he doesn't seem to do so in my game. Granted, I don't have Desperate Housewives installed. Perhaps your addition of him in the most recent playful NPCs patch doesn't allow for inventory refresh? Also, after rescuing Paida, the wheel & wainwright has a dialogue option to give you a spiked wooden shield, yet he doesn't appear to give anything. At a cursory glance, the dialogue appears correct. Perhaps someone with more knowledge than I could look into this? Finally, when I did my armor fixes to prevent masterwork light armors with zero skill check penalty from giving an unintentional bonus, I overlooked the leather armor +1. When the next version comes out, could someone adjust this in the protos? I think that it's too minor a fix to post an entire protos now.
Ummmm yeah, quite possibly the new Data/Rules/InvenSource.mes file does not get installed without DH. Could u pop yours open and let me know if there is a line {319} in it? If not, I'll post a new one up on here and include it in the next mini-patch. Also what is the fix u want for the leather armour? As for Paida, I have never known him to give u a reward (but then I never asked for one... hmmm). I'll test it.
The spiked shield was added by Troika for patch 2 (originally it was just a normal shield  ). Never seen a spiked shield anywhere so wondering whether it might have got lost somewhere in Co8 patches?
Yes, Ted, I do have a line 319 for Ah Fong in my InvenSource.mes, and I'm not sure why he isn't refreshing inventory. On the other hand, I've done a fair amount of silly things in my current game for testing purposes. I may have glitched something and corrupted my save. Sometime tomorrow, I could probably start a new game and get to Nulb to double check. As far as the leather armor +1, the game adds the masterwork bonus to skill checks that I had tried to eliminate with my previous patch. It should have skill circumstance bonus -1 to skill_hide, skill_move_silently, skill_pick_pocket, and skill_use_magic_device. Now that I think about it, Wonnilon's leather armor +1 probably needs the same fix. I should test that. One other thing that I wanted to mention was that Prince Thrommel's Large Steel Shield has no skill check penalty. However, it is not a masterwork item, and is nonmagical. At the moment, it's somewhere in between a large steel shield and a large mithral shield. Since anomolies like this make me uncomfortable, do you think we could get a consensus on whether it should be made a proper large steel shield (and probably masterwork), a large mithral shield, or left alone? Maybe we could do something completely different. How does a +1 large steel shield of freedom of movement (like the ring) with a zero skill check penalty sound?
Sounds complicated I would suggest we make it mithral or masterwork - seem like Thrommel would have quality gear. But thats just me.
I think he ought to be mostly naked. He got snatched from his tent after being awakened at an odd hour by robed figures who then took him prisoner...how he came to be mail-clad with ALL of his cool stuff doesn't make sense to me. Is this because of their 'orders'? Or is it an oversight by the writers? Since he's got it, it ought to be masterwork stuff at the most. He's got a nifty dagger (+2/+3 vs. Large creatures), Fragarach, a ring, amulet, & belt....these latter 3 being non magical items of jewelry. I'm sure that all of his best gear is back in Chendl locked up in daddy's vault.
Unless they sentenced him to the Dr. Evil execution routine: Leave him unsupervised in the unnecessarily slow-moving and easily escapable death chamber with all his best gear so that his death will be troublingly uncertain. It's the way good guys are always put to death.
Very little of the encounter makes any sense, other than the fact they didn't actually kill him to prevent augury spells pointing to the culprit and sending the forces of Furyondy and Veluna off to whale on Iuz's kingdom. (As it is they blame the Scarlet Brotherhood). The module (thanks again to Lord Spike) says he is mail clad with his gear on and his shield under his feet, Boromir-death-boat style. Put it all together and i guess they dressed him, since he would hardly have slept in his mail and surcoat. :twitch:
maybe Zuggy likes a bit of fresh prince for her breakfast so they put him "on ice" to keep him fresh.
I have a little problem with the Co8 mod, when my char dies the game crashes, i already instaled the mod with and without the front-end and the game crashes on both, without the Co8 mod everything goes well. Please Help !! Thanks.
3 days and no answer... well no problem anyway, i just found out that the problem was a bug with a custom portrait...
Magic Celtic Tattoos do not reduce diplomacy The Magic Celtic Tattoos do not reduce the wearer's (sic) diplomacy skill. From examining the protos.tab, it looks like the relevent skill_circumstance_modifier references 'diplomacy', rather than 'skill_diplomacy'. The bonus to the 'use magic device' skill for either set of tattoos doesnt seem to work either, but I can't see why. Charles
It's too bad no one could get you the help you asked for; but it's good that you either figured it out by trial & error or by reading enough of what's already been posted on the topic of ctd's. The thing is, a standard of helping has been set that folks here can't always live up to. Not that they have to, as this is what people do for fun. Just imagine if you'd tried this on the Atari site, and be glad that this place even is.
