now I emptied completely the atari folder then installed the game then downloaded patch 1, 2 and the modpack 4.0.0 then installed them in that order then started the game, and disabled autosave done the above 2 times now ... still I cant loot corpses. I can loot them in the tutorial where its explained how to do it allso when trying to use the shortcut for the front load, it says could not be installed properly and I have tried downloading and installing the newest directX from microsoft I am just about to throw the game box with its contents out the window now :help:
Could you answer a few questions about you Co8-4.0.0 install options... 1) did you choose the toffee, or non-toffee install method? 2) if you chose a toffee install, did you use the toffee shortcut to launch the frontend or the standard shortcut to launch the game? - you should use the frontend to launch the game with toffee.
well, dont really understand toffee or non-toffee install method, there only seemed one option anyway, I tried again and this time installed the microsoft net thingie, and then I could use the front loader, and have started a new game, still cant loot anything though
When you open the frontend, there is a list of installed mod packs the default option in the standard patch 2 version of ToEE, the next on the list should be C08-4.0.0. Select this mod (and any other frontend options) then save your settings. When your done push the "launch ToEE" button.

So it seems that I'm having the same problem. I've made sure the auto-save button is off, but I'm actually playing the ToEE mod (for now). I can't get into buildings and the only way to loot the dead is to get into combat mode. Does it matter if I've already started the game with the auto-map save ON and then turned it off? (meaning: did I need to start a new game with it off). I;m not too sure what I'm doing wrong here...thoughts???
If you cannot loot then it means that the dll fix isn't applied properly. Simple solution is the boring one I'm afraid - reinstall the game. Delete everything in that Atari folder and reinstall the game, ( if you are using the frontend, make sure microsoft .NET is installed) , then apply patches 1 + 2, (CD crack for patch 2 goes here if you are using one) and then co8 v4. The auto-save thing shouldn't have any effect on whether or not you can loot. The game is screwy. Sacrifice healthier goats. edit: oh and clear the map cache too. That's one of the things the frontend makes much simpler because it does it for you if you select the option to allow it.
