Hey guys, I was just playing in game with the most recent CO8 mod pack. So I'm travelling between Nulb and Hommlet and I come accross a random encounter with another adventuring party. I talked to them and it was all good and fine. Now whenever I come accross a random encounter on the map the icon says x# door, and the icon looks like a cartoonish blue Bobba Fett!

Has anyone run into this problem before? I guess I could load and skip the random encounter with the adventuring party.

    Thanks,

    Xander

I think I've seen the picture, it's in the dat files for an Ice toad, but there are no Ice toads in the protos.tab (none that i've seen anyway).

@ Cerulean the Blue, I think you may have to do a new fix for the random_encounter fix to remove the non existing ice toads.

Its the standard pic for "whoa the game has farked up", particularly if u somehow 'talk' to a tree or something.

I've got the stats for them. Want me to add one as part of my protos update and let you skin it?

Not a problem. I might have to get creative with some of their abilities, but we'll see.

It's not a problem with random_encounter.py. I checked and every protos in the enemies lists is valid. Sounds like his game is doing something it shouldn't. There is no call in the enemies lists for any proto in the "door" range. Unless it is a predetermined encounter (namely Gweno) that has somehow gotten fubar, I don't know what it could be.
    Which map?

I actually ended up with a similar situation last night. During the "Target of Revenge" bit, I cast fireball in the room. Where the enchantress lay dead, I got a mob named "Treasuremap2" with the blue Boba Fett picture. The mob was untargetable, wasn't affected by area effect spells, and was hostile, so I couldn't leave combat. I ended up reloading and did the battle again without spells.

TreasureMap2 is a spawner used by Liv to create, amongst other things, the group that attacks you in the Target of Revenge scenario. Usually, you never see it or know it's there. Sometimes, however, area effect spells will draw it into the combat initiative. You can't target it, or hurt it in any way. This is the first instance I recall of anyone having it hostile, and not being able to exit combat because of it. Did you try the "Flee Combat" option in the movement part of the radial menu? I would be curious to see if, when you returned, it was still hostile or not.

See, thats when Boba Fett shows up - when something gets dragged into an encounter that has no portrait, like a door or spawner. Nothing to do with ice toads in random.py.

When I got the spawner it was just a highlighted circle. The pic along the top of the screen was a blue cutout of a person with a T on it, but there was nothing else on screen (got Treasure Map 2 from casting ice storm in the ambush).

Are people confusing Bobba Fett with Jabba the Hutt? Cos I can't figure out where the ice toad is coming from. Although it would be cool to have one :)

Well now that we have the ability to make .mob files, and make them invisible until certain conditions are set (quest completed, flag raised, time event delay expired etc...), perhaps some work needs doing to remove these troublesome spawners? Especially the most troublesome ones (the target of revenge battle, the level 4 trap spawner etc...).

Yars, C-Blue has made this point previously, we really should.

We just have to move them to some out of the way place. I say, behind the doors. I'm certainly going to move the DH ones one day. (Although if u r using area-effect spells to kill GKR, check your tactics ;))

I don't mean move them, I mean replace spawners with invisable .mob'ed in versions of the creatures to be spawned, that will become visable when the conditions are right. Like Micky or the Smigmal fix. I'm doing some of this for my mod (hopefully I'll get that bit finished today).
