Hello all. Good site here. I have read all I could and I am very confused..... First all, I just got the game. I got the "Bargain bin" jewel case version from Walmart about a month ago and have been playing ever since. I have all my party of 5 up to 9th. They are: Pal Fighter Cleric Wizard Ranger/Rogue 5/4 I wanted to be able to extend play beyond the 10th level so this is what I have done: I DL official patch 1 and 2 and installed. I then DL the newest Co8 from here and installed. Now, I have the looting problem. How can I fix? Where should I start since I did 3 things before trying to play again. I should note that I really never had any problems when I first started playing before I made these changes. Thanks, JoeyP
First, welcome to the forum. As to your question, we could use a little more information. When you say you downloaded the newest Co8, do you mean Co8 4.0.0? If you do, did you do the Front End install, or the non-Fornt End install? If you did the Front End install, are you using the Front End shortcut to launch the game, or the original shortcut? Get back to us with these answers and we will be glad to help.
Thanks, I DL and installed the Co8.0.0. I have the Front End Icon on my desktop so I am assuming that installed as well. When I click on it, I get an error that says, "The application failed to inialiaze properly". All I was really wanting to do was to be able to extend play beyond the 10th. I have read elsewhere that the "bargain bin" jewel case version of the game already comes patched with the newest(3?) patch from atari. is that true? Thanks in advance, JoeyP
Did you install Microsoft .NET? That is essential if you want to run the game using the frontend. There are links to .NET and where to download it in both the frontend thread and the thread with the download link for v4. If you do download .NET, I'd recommend a total reinstall of ToEE and patches just to be on the safe side. If the jewel case does come patched to with 3, then you should easily be able to overwrite this just by installing patch 2 over the top. I still patch using 1 followed by 2, but I'm a dinosaur and it probably is only necessary to do that for a few people.
Great..Thanks... I guess I missed the part about the MS .net. What is that exactly? So I need to Uninstall everything and then do a clean reinstall? Would I install this MS Net first? Also, would I be able to copy my current saved games to go back to where I am now after I reinstall everything? Thanks, joeyp
Hmm. MS .NET allows the frontend to work. Your google is as good as mine if you want more info on it It isn't harmful though, which is the main thing. Install MS Net before reinstalling. The reason why I recommend reinstalling is that occasionally you get some odd glitchiness if you don't. Not every time, but if you do get a glitch then you'll just be peeved with me for not telling you. By all means try it without a reinstall but you have been warned Your saved game may work if copied across. Worth a try if nothing else although, again, be aware that you may get glitches. Sacrificing goats before starting is also a good tip. I prefer black ones, although Ted did once say he tried a brown one, and Lord Spike swears he can make things work with the odd sheep
Great...one other dumb question. Where are the saved game files located???? I looked in my TOEE folder and can't find any of the saved game files!!! Thanks JoeyP
saves from the original (pre-toeefe) game are in the modules/ToEE/saves folder. Created characters are in the modules/ToEE/players folder, just copy the folders and paste them in modules/Co8-4.0.0 and (providing there are no compatability issues) you should be alright. But some of your equipment may have changed in colour or strength (this in normal for Co8-4.0.0).
There's a picture around here somewhere of when the Co8 Tribunal Council set a chicken on fire upon the release of 4.0.0. Seems to have worked so far. Sort of.
