Hello Everyone, I'm a long-time lurker, first-time poster Thanks for all the hard work that's gone into all the fixes and add-ons. It's really made the game 100% better. I recently added Toffee 3.3 pro onto my installation. It worked fine for the first few days but now won't start - it says 'unable to initialise properly' and closes itself. I can still run the 'normal' TOEE without Toffee, but that doesn't include my current game, using the Ted/Liv/etc module. Since I last ran it successfully, my computer was infected with several nasty tojan/hijackers which I have removed using 'Adware Away'. Any suggestions?
Welcome! ToEEFE requires .NET. My guess is that some important .NET component was corrupted by those Trojans. Try installing .NET again. Of course, if your rig is infested with trojans and viruses, the best thing to do is a complete re-install of Windows.
What Morpheus said, yah. To add to it, save your data files [all DOC/XLS/JPG/etc, everything from My Documents, all of your Internet Explorer favorites (look for porn sites added and delete those), and, lastly, also save your PST file from Outlook or IDX (I think) from Outlook Express] to a removeable drive like a USB drive or CD disks and also have Windows during its reinstall completely KILL everything, meaning have it delete everything and, specifically, select format using NTFS if using Windows 2000 or XP. I would suggest you read the following post and consider downloading and using the software. Get to safe mode by pressing the F8 key during bootup in the DOS portion of booting your computer. !!! Do this before you do anything else, meaning before you delete/reinstall Windows. latest version of McAfee Stinger -> McAfee Stinger
Thanks for all the helpful suggestions. I'll be following them very shortly! It never crossed my mind that the .NET files might be corrupted...however reinstalling it hasn't made any difference. I'll be moving on to the 'total wipe and start again' method... Keep up the excellent work on TOEE! It is appreciated by the (mostly) silent lurkers!
It's working again now...I still had one last item to remove (according to my 6th clean-up program). I suppose I'd still better do the full wipe-etc anyway. Thanks again! Duckface Dragon =UDIC=
