    I'm having problems installing ToEE on my new computer system. It's on lease-hire/purchase (through my Dad's work), so I've got most of the inital software (including windows) preloaded. Unfortunatly, this appears to mean that Service Pack 2 is preinstalled, and I can't seem to be able to uninstall it.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    (I can't do, before anyone suggests it, a hard drive wipe. As I said, it comes with most of the software pre-installed; not the way I'd like it, but as I don't have the disks, I really can't do much about it.)

    SP2 shouldn't prevent you from installing ToEE. Official patch 3 and moebius' temple.zip fix (better) are both designed to correct the one problem that comes up with SP2. They work like gangbusters.

    If you can't install, I doubt it's because of SP2. What reason do you have for thinking this is your problem?

    I didn't have any probles installing on my old (Win 98) machine, and I haven't (so far) had any problems with installing anything else yet. I assumed it was problably SP 2 related, as SP 2 is responsible for quite a few errors.

    The actual error message I get is a (-5003 : 0x8004ace8), telling me I need to make sure I have finished any previous setups and close any other applications.

    Error Information:
    >SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (955)
    pAPP:Temple of Elemental Evil
    PVENDOR:Atari
    PGUID:AD80F06B-0F21-4EEE-934D-BEF0D21E6383
    $7.1.100.1248
    @Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) IE 6.0.2900.2180

    I have tried disconnecting from the net and shutting down all my virus checkers and Firewalls disabled (I'm running ZoneAlarm, and have Norton installed, but not running, and windows Firewall is off). I have got a fair number of .exes running in the background. I'm not yet familar with XP, so I'm not sure what applications to shut down through Task Manager; for example, under 98, I'd shut down everything except Explorer and system, but I don't know the similar protocols for XP yet.

    You can un-install sp2 from the control panel. It's more trouble than it's worth. Remove programs is a good thing. You will keep getting the there are new updates available if you ever want to re-install.

    I can't uninstall it, or I would have done... my version of XP comes with SP 2 integral (it's a brand new machine). There's no option to remove it in Control Panel, and I've already checked numerous sites on removing SP 2. I'm stuck with it for the foreseeable future.
