A blast from the past :) Take it easy, and don't burn out.

Great news Marc! This is seriously the best news I have heard in a while.

The mod should go on ModDB with the other Co8 mods, if you don't mind me saying. That may sound like 'fanfare', but at this point, no, I don't think anyone is keeping close watch over there ;)

It's pretty cool that a 20 year old game is still getting new content. And with you authoring it, I am confident it will be nothing short of amazing. Major kudos on persevering for so long - god knows it isn't easy.

Best of luck Marc! Unfortunately, I won't have time to beta test for you, but I hope you find some folks who can.

Although this could be easily misconstrued, I like the "soft fantasy feel" idea.

I always liked more Tolkien/Lewis, less Lovecraft in my DnD. But just a matter of ratios.

    Greetings everyone,

My module is just about ready for a beta release. I will soon be posting the link where you can download it, hopefully by the end of June. If it goes past that date, I will make a post explaining the situation. I'm doing one last check before making the final package, looking for stupid bugs, stray files that don't belong in the build, etc. I'll probably make a new thread for it the mod section.

Everything runs very well at this point, there are no game-halting bugs, or random crashes. That's been my highest priority. That said, the mod is very long, and I have been the only person testing it. I'm sure other player's style of play will reveal weaknesses and cause great chaos to my well laid plans.

So, in regards to that, I must say this. As I've mentioned in previous posts, I've reached an age where my eyes can't be exerted for full days, let alone weeks, chasing down bugs and such. So I'm counting on it remaining stable for the full length of the adventure. I can live with stupid bugs that don't halt the game, or dialog misspellings, and that sort of thing. But if something major does happens during play, and there is a situation that halts the game completely, please be patient with my response. I may be totally unresponsive for weeks, or even months. It's how it must be for me right now. To be honest, spring is springing here, I have so many other things I want to do for the next few months that don't involve looking ate a computer screen. I'm very concerned about getting swept up into a long-term tech-support situation, where I'm working on code all day and night, trying to fix things. So I may actually just post the download link and run away at full speed. Half joking... but half serious.

Anyway, the adventure is called "Paladin's Cove". It's a nearly full-length campaign, and it should bring an average sized group to levels 12-18, depending on how many quests and sub-quests you undertake. It does not currently have a final wrap-up ending yet, so prepare for loose ends, and unanswered questions when it's over. But its long enough to give a player satisfying conclusions to larger quests. I've intentionally not posted screen-shots and details of what it's all about, since I started this. I didn't want to get hopes up, and then disappear. So I may as well continue that trend till the very end.

    Be back soon, Marc.

Since it's already early July, and since someone pinged me about this, we're curious about your module status.

    Thankee!

OK, I just created a new thread in the the General Modification group, and the beta release of Paladin's Cove is there for download!

Ten years later, well... better late than never.

Most of what I need to say is in the ReadMe file, included with the ZIP file you download. If you decide to install it and play it, please read this ReadMe file. Also, take what you get for now. While the adventure IS pretty long, it's still very "thin" in terms of the depth of the plot and character development, and that sort of thing. This is what I hope to work on mostly in coming releases.

Well, that and all the random mystery crashes that I have not had for years, but other people might encounter. Even though I've successfully installed and run this on 4 different computers; one that's 20 years old (XP), two about 10 years old (W8,W10), and my new computer which is about 3 years old( W11), things will obviously come up. But hey, maybe not.

Deep summer has recently arrived here in Oklahoma, which means 100 degree days and 87 degree nights, so I'll be inside most of the time for the next few months. So it's a perfect setting to shift over into game play/development mode for a while, in the comfort of an air-conditioning.

But please keep in mind, I'll still be responding slowly, and may go AWOL for weeks at a time as usual, since I'm officially an old fart at this point.

Also, I'm not sure if I should make a separate thread for any bugs and feedback that might come along, or post them in the release thread, or here. Suggestions welcomed.

    Thanks, Marc
