Yeah, that's what I meant by resizing - tweaking it to look right for a ToEE PC model. Once a figure is reached (say, reduce by 5% or whatever) that can then be uniformly applied, because all the BG maps should be the same: having to check each and every map would be a royal pain.

I've had no joy extracting the maps yet, I'll search for Infinity Explorer tomorrow and have another crack at it. I did manage to play an extracted video with VLC Media Player though, every attempt to convert the video into a format readable by Rad Tools however met with failure also. :(

Ghah, Infinity Explorer requires the presence of baldur.ini - a file which doesn't exist with the Steam version of Baldur' Gate, does anyone have a copy of this file that they could upload for me perchance?

I had to put a copy of baldur.lua (renamed baldur.ini) and dialogue.tlk into the root folder, but it seems to work, still can't export maps though, it only tells me "AR2600 There are no more files" Grrr, are there other methods of extracting maps from BG?

Is anyone still in contact with Old Book? He was a venerated BG modder in his day.

Might be a good idea to drop him a pm, maybe it will coax him out of obscurity. ;)

Right, so I managed to extract most of the maps, it turned out that Comodo Internet Security was being overprotective. I am missing 60 of the maps however, mostly outside large maps I think. If someone else could try extracting these maps, and has more luck than I do, would you be able to .zip them and post them as an attachment here?

I am currently missing the following files:

I actually feel like I'm finally getting somewhere, I have viewed and separated out all the maps that don't need editing (have no replacement tiles for doors/fires/water etc...) a grand total of 230 maps which could be usable in ToEE once the issue of scale is investigated, and the image size of the map files proportioned appropriately for splitting into ToEE digestible chunks.

I also had a thought about looking through the BGII maps to see if any I'm missing were among those map files when I saw this map and my door destroying mindset went ballistic!

If I'm helping with the sectoring I don't mind adding the doors / fire / water: that (and the lighting) is the fun part. Do they do it like ToEE with background maps that don't show things like door models and fires?

Where do you stand on infravision? It was a big part of the game and while it is not activated in ToEE, as far as I can tell there is enough in the innards of the game to make it an option.

Infravision could be fun, I actually wanted the Darkness spell for the Drow in Verbobonc, but then you'd also need a Light spell to counter it.

BG maps have all openable doors painted on the map in the open position, and holes in locations where water and fire are to be animated in, at the bottom of each map are tiles with doors/fires/water which are activated to cover doorways into a closed position, and cycle water/fire animations. For them to be ToEE compatible, the doors will need to be removed from each image, water sections replaced to be static, or another solution to add water animations through the gaps in the map perhaps? And for fires we can just add ToEE's effects

I am a little annoyed that most of the large outside area maps don't want me to extract them, I guess I could take multiple screenshots and sew them together that way, but it would be better if it didn't come to that.

Wow sounds like you are getting everything together to make a go at it. Have not played any of the BG series in a long time, was a great game Bioware has always done good work.

Actually, it'd be kind of fun to create ToEE PC versions of the playable NPC's and import their voice files and portraits to start things off. Weren't there something like 30 of them?
