Are there any mods for the current co8 version that you made to make the game better, like the previous temple map one? Are there any you know of or use?
Some problems I'm having with the "What Lies Beneath" quest. Spoilers: Spoiler I have implicated Boroquin through confessions from himself and the night guard, as well as the diary off of the escaped inmate. I do have the reputation where I have found sufficient evidence against him. I found the two children, they joined me, when I reached the surface they disappears and a children's laughter sound played; I assume that is working as it should be. The problem arises when I go to report to the captain. I can say "Boroquin kidnapped those children", to which he replies, "How do you know?", and my only option that I can select is "I must depart", or "Farewell", or whatever goodbye message is randomly generated.
Fairly certain I discovered the source of the bug. Look at 00330boroquin.dlg, line 310. Note that the three options with high sense motive all set variables at the end of the line. Look now for dialogues at 280, 290 and 300. Clearly they should set the same variables at the end of the line, but they do not. A similar problem exists of Rakham is 00329rakham.dlg. So, the quest would only work properly if the children were under the archer's eye well, since that was the only line of dialogue that set the variables properly. It's a very easy fix if I'm right; if asked, I'll gladly fix and upload the edited dialogue files.
Please do! That thing with the Captain not acknowledging has been a niggly problem for quite a while, one I thought I'd solved a few different times. Sometimes it just takes a different pair of eyes. Can you verify all the outcomes too? As you can see, that whole scenario is on the complex side with variables.
If by "verify", you mean look over all the other variable settings to check for similar problems elsewhere, sure, no problem. I'll have to pass on testing them all manually in game, though, as there are many dozens of combinations, and I'm inclined to spend my finite modding/testing energies elsewhere
Here is the two fixed dialogue files; I replayed the quest from the beginning, and it did fix the problem.
I have a crazy one. I am going through again (sorry, I like the game with the mods). I just fought through the water node and defeated the guardian. I then noticed that my Paladin and Ranger both had a spell object on them. I went to the secret spiral staircase to rest to get my spells back but then I couldn't use the map to get around. My ranger also had a strength of 11, intelligence of 1 and charisma of 1. I made it out of the temple (waiting at the entrance so the spell object got down to zero because every time I change the screen it went to 100/100). I then went to Homlett. I then went to the cheese maker to use the fix for the spell item. I got it off my Paladin but the cheese maker wouldn't talk to my Ranger. I took one of the cloaks of charisma +6 and put it on my Ranger and the charisma went to 2 (for some reason my Paladin had no reduction in charisma). The cheese maker still didn't talk to my Ranger. I cast Restoration for charisma on my Ranger but it didn't work. I then tried several times to talk to the cheese maker. Finally, he started talking. He asked what smelled and I went through the I have a problem bit and the spell object was still there. No matter how many times I happened. I then looked at all my cleric spells for one I think would work. Dispel magic didn't work. I then cast neutralize poison on my Ranger and the spell object went away. Since you will probably ask for more, see my saved files. The spell object was in the top left place of the inventory. I am using Co8 8.1.0. I just think people should see this and if someone else has run into this problem. I don't know if that should work and you may want to see it.
Thanks, I'll look into it. I'll probably also replace that spell object nonsense with a proper Hezrou stench spell condition sinve it causes so many problems.... but this will be in TemplePlus.
Hi all, new here and trying to upload latest mod and keep getting "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." message. I have toee from GOG in file on C drive and have tried putting the co8 mod in same, on desktop, in the GOG file, in the download file and in the default programs file and receive the same message each time. Any ideas? tyvm
Hey guys, I may have some solution for the "can't detect sekrit doors" bug. More of a work-around, really. How about adding a secret door with extremely low DC in the shop area that leads to an empty room and a signpost that explains how this bug works? It'd save a lot of time (normally I have to go to the moathouse to see if I can detect secrets).
