Hey there folks, After getting a hankering to play ToEE again, loading it up yadda yadda. After the fight with the Balon (man, I dont recall it being this hard) I finally defeated him! Went to go rest and recover.. but for some reason my dwarf has a constant grey purplish smoke emitting from him long long LONG after all the other spells has worn off. I even cast greater dispel magic on him.. and nothing. If it was any other battle, I would just go back to an old savegame and redo it but I am not sure I want to fight the Balon again. Is there anyway to shut off particle effects or something? I am running a Alienware 17 laptop with Win7 Any help would be great.
Okay on a whim I tried the Balon combat again, and 1st time I defeated him! Previous time it took me about 20 tries. Either way the dwarf is smoking no more.
Sadly, I already saved over the other save. Sorry. And I did have Vrocks summoned. Maybe the Balon charmed it and hit my poor dwarf?
Ok I think I might have a solution. It involves the console though. (shift+~ to bring it up) First select the party member who has the smoke effect. Now type in the console: Code: [game.particles_kill(i) for i in range(1, game.particles('sp-bless water', game.leader))] This should wash off the persistent particle system Note that it will also temporarily extinguish all lights in the area you're in (torches, fireplaces etc) but it'll come back when you refresh the map.
If I encounter any more problems I will be sure to send you the save file. Just killed Zuggtmoy again... but now for the first time... OFF TO VERBOBONC! Looking forward to playing it! Thanks for the quick reply.
I usually get that smoking effect after the zuggtmoy fight so good to see that there is a way the dispel it rather than doing the fight over and over
I'd appreciate testing in a live case... so far I've checked that it works for artificially added particles, but I'm curious to see if it solves the "natural" problem (persistent particles that don't go away over time / on map change).
See if you can get a naturally occurring persistent particle system - e.g. by fighting the Vrock normally, and see if that command solves it. The most helpful thing would actually be a save with persistent particles (make sure it doesn't go away when reloading the save!).
I have multiple saves that show what you want. I will upload one tomorrow, unless you want more than one?
