Getting out of the start shop

I'm playing a chaotic good party of six in KotB for the first time and I can't get out of the shop.:sadblinky I've tried using that telescope thingy (my thief has a skill level of 8 for search, so it should work) but all I get is a red warning that my party alignment is incorrect and a white message nothing found.
Is there a limit to the number in the party in KotB?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

The gate out is at the bottom of the map. You started right next to it. Have you tried that?

 

Thanks, Yes I have. When I click on the exit gate I get a message that I need to use the telescope and find a secret ladder behind the stairs behind me, but when I do that I get the error message (see op)

 

I don't believe the CG story is in place yet. Have you had any problems with the alignments Ted posted as being ready?

 

Thanks for that Sirchet. Its the first time I played any party. So I'll change to a different alignment and try again.

 

He did get a red warning box stating that his party alignment was wrong, oh Shiney One.

 

Thanks, I should have read the thread before starting this one. The error messages works fine, I was being a bit slow.
I'll try one of the others thats complete, heck, I'll play them all as they come out!
