Ok, i've become nostalgic with the game already and have reinstalled it to paly again. Originally i played the game in it's original, buggy condition, and this time i've searched for updates and mods for it, which has led me here. I've decided that I really would like to try out the main reccomended course for ToEE... Patch 1, Patch 2, Circle of Eight Mod pack, and try out Livonya's beta 1.5 patch. Upon carefully following the install process for all of those, i find i can't play the game. Ok, time to diagnose what's going wrong. I uninstalled the game, reinstalled it, and ran it. It ran fine. I installed patch 1. It ran fine. I installed patch 2. I got the same error as i orignally did. The error that I am recieving when installing the official patch 2 is a popup window which states "Please insert the Temple of Elemental Evil Play disk" ... even though the disk is in the drive, and it worked fine before running patch 2. I searched around on the forums but saw no mention of this error anywhere. Anyone know of or encountered this before? I would appreciate any help as i'd really like to try out the new mods and play an un-bugged version of the game. Thanks for any help!
Try the no-cd patch. There's a thread/link to it in general discussion IIRC, or google it. Odd that you're getting it now, but that would seem the most likely fix/work around.
I must say that once in a while, I would get something about using the original disc instead of the back up disc I'm not using. But it seemed that if I ran it so I couldn't use the console then the original disc would work. for me the problem is/was intermitant so I'm not really concerned
Zebedee, looks like that was exactly what i needed. Thanks for the suggestion, i thought about that but wasn't sure if that was the proper course. It appears to be working fine now, with all patches installed. Thanks!
I have the same problem. Point me to a no-CD patch? I am horribly impatient when it comes to trying to find something...... Thanks,DJ
Hmm don't think we can link to a crack on these forums, lol. Just search google. Ill point you in the right dirrection.... megagames.com
i reinsert the install disc, and press "try again" about 4 or 5 times, and it goes away. simple temporary fix.
The copyprotection is a little temperamental. The no-cd patch should stop it occurring though. But if it isn't annoying you, then there's no need to add it really. I never really trust 3rd party hacks to get round copy protection but sometimes you have no choice.
