The empty spaces I have seen before. I am running in the new content version and the drow seem to always have open spaces. I haven't run into it before then though.
Well, I had an older version of the modpack and didn't notice this. Seems to have been since I downloaded the 8.1.0 version that i've seen it. I renamed my save folder and am starting over to do some more testing. One thing, my version has the the piles of weapons in the starting bedroom and I've read on other posts that this is an older version of the 8.1.0 download, but I've checked my version and it's the Aug New Content version that says Released Sept 16.
OK. I downloaded again and the file size is the same as the last one. I installed and activated it and when i started a new game, I found i had gotten the version with the piles of weapons in the starting store again.
Did you run the installation utility for the new download? It should have overwritten files in your ToEE directory. Sometimes temporary files can be difficult too. For example, if your system sees that you already have the file you're trying to download again (same name), it may not actually download it. It's best to delete temporary files first, and in fact delete the old installer/download before you download the new one.
Well, I started with a brand new install of the GOG version which I understand to be a completely patched version and then downloaded the modpack and installed into the new GOG game folder. I'm not sure what you're meaning by installation utility. What I"m doing is: 1. Install GOG version of game to C:/GOG/Temple of Elemental Evil 2. Downlod the modpack from link in Step 4 of your Installation Instructions list. 3. Installing that to the newly created C:/GOG/Temple of Elemental Evil 4. Installing the ToEE Front End X 5. Activating the Circle of Eight Modpack 8.1.0 New Content Module. OK, I jsut now as I was typing this noticed that the Front End says Released Sept 16, 2013. But it was downloaded from the link with the Date Aug 14, 2014 so it looks like I keep getting an old version. EDIT: I renamed the old version of the download before I downloaded it again so it definitely downloaded again. But I think I keep getting an old version. EDIT AGAIN: I'm currently downloading it again. I checked the link and the Uploader is Gaear, the Date os Aug 14, 2014 Size is 623.64 so I click on the red Doanload Now button and it opens the window saying Click to download from Gamefront. So that's where I'm getting it from.
OK, Gaear. I went to another window site. I downloaded both versions, the one from Gamefront and the one from SJC #3 (to another directory). The file sizes were different, 638,613 KB for the Gamefront download (whiich size matches the ones I had already attempted) and 638,607 for the SJC #3 download. So I Installed the SJC #3 download. The Front End still says Released Sept 16, 2013 as does the Modpack text document in my ToEE folder. The Modpack Realse Notes text doc says modified 08-13-2014 so that looks promising. When I Play the game, the store does not have the piles of weapons in the store sleeping room. So that's different. I'm going to try this and see what happens.
That's good. You've got the right one now. It looks like the one hosted at Gamefront wasn't updated ... bummer, being as ModDB is supposed to handle all that. The date as of v8.0.0 is and always will be 9/16/2013 (10 year game release anniversary). That's when the 'finished' modpack was released. Any releases after that are just iterations of the same thing with more bugs fixed.
I encountered the same problem with the file from the primary download site. Gaear had posted the file size/timestamp for the correct download and the primary site download didn't match. I grabbed a copy from one of the mirrors and that one was the correct size and timestamp.
Did not find this elsewhere but this is an actual bug that happened in m game. My bard uses Inspire greatness on Elmo. And now, not only the song seems to last forever, it adds like 4 or 5 flags to the inspired char portrait and they renew every round. So now Elmo is invincible. Absorbing damage from melee, magic and even sneak attacks. I'm sure that's not how this song is supposed to work, right? The song goes away when I rest. But it happens 100% of the time with this song. Hehehe... don't get me wrong. It's been some fun. But now It just might spoil the game =P
Also, evey time I recruit Otis, he comes with a new set of armor and a sword. If I let him go and hire him again, he creates a new set in his inventory. After 2 recruitments he's already burdened and since he does not drop those items, it's permanent.
One more thing, is it only my computer that has the two people in the Earth node as talking really quietly? I can barely hear them.
My party has been falsely accused by the citizens of Hommlet! Elmo was killed by mobs, not by me, twice so far. After resurrecting him the second time I returned to Hommlet to unload loot and got attacked by the militia and blacksmith. I checked the log and found I had acquired the reputation of Butcher of Hommlett even though I had not killed any one except Gremag to set up the assassination subplot. According to the write up the butcher reputation is supposed to occur when your party kills a certain number of innocents in the town. Either this is a bug or you can never do business in Hommlet if Elmo dies twice.:thumbsdow
