I've looked around the forum and I seem to be the only one with this problem: What do you do with the "jammed door"? I tried picking it, attack it with my enraged barbarian/bull strenghted (26 str) to no avail. thx.
Did you try the sorcerer/wizard cantrip open/close door? My Q: There are these brands on the leaders in the caves. When I pick them up they disappear. Is that normal or do I have a bug?
chano, the IQ&P is an acronym for Ink, Quill and Parchment. You can buy an IQ&P from Geoffrey (Scribe) at the marketplace within the Outer Bailey. If you use the IQ&P, then it can give you useful information about quests that you have and haven't completed. In order to be able to gain entry to the Shrine of Evil Chaos, you need to Spoiler get the mark from all of the humanoid tribes at the Caves of Chaos. These tribes are: Orc tribe #1 (you start the game with this mark already because the orc tribe hasn't been implemented in the game yet). Orc tribe #2 (you start the game with this mark already because the orc tribe hasn't been implemented in the game yet). Kobold tribe Goblin tribe Hobgoblin tribe Gnoll tribe Bugbear tribe subzeroclassic is correct. The Spoiler Shady Character does show up outside Flay's home (see screenshot below).
Gah! Stupid Cat! Ok... well, for folks trying to get into the Thieves' Guild, try hanging around Flay's house (it used to be, this would happen when you left the pub one day, on the assumption you would go to the pub periodically to see the Bailiff about a quest, or to recruit adventurers / mercs, or flog bootleg grog, or buy food for quest advancement, or whatever). (And it will be again, when I move that damn cat). Now the cat seems to be in range when you come out of Flay's house. At least its not unplayable EDIT: Zoroastre - there's a couple of spells to get through a jammed door, but mainly, try a cantrip
Spoiler alert question: Spoiler How do you pick up the small spider Flay needs? I've subdued one with non-lethal damage but I can't place it in my inventory. Do I need a charm monster spell instead?
Gehennis, you don't complete the quest for Flay by retrieving a Spoiler live spider for him. You complete the quest by getting something from the Spoiler Lizardman Chief in the lizardmen cave at the Swamp .
My Q: There are these brands on the leaders in the caves. When I pick them up they disappear. Is that normal or do I have a bug? Anybody know?
DOH! why didn't I have taught of that! thx guys, I was so bent on finding a hidden lever that I forgot the obvious...
crpgnut, your game is WAI (working as intended). Whenever one of your characters loots a branding iron from each of the humanoid chiefs, what is actually happening is that this computer game automatically brands your character's skin with the mark that is on that branding iron, and then the branding iron disappears permanently because it no longer serves any purpose in the game. You want and need this to happen in order to be able to Spoiler access the final dungeon in this computer game .
looting branding iron with other than partyleader or character with pen and paper does not get the brand it seems, bug or not?
I'll have to test that Chano, but since it is just setting a flag, anyone should be able to pull it off. Can you tell us which iron it was? The bug might be in the IQ&P set.
Since I'm constantly changing party leaders around, I'm sure different folks have picked up the brands. The brands should be set to mark everyone in the party, not just the leader.
crpgnut, I was role-playing and being immersive with my false explanation earlier. It doesn't matter which PC in your adventuring party loots a branding iron or receives a mark from a humanoid chief. Whenever you either loot a branding iron or whenever a humanoid chief marks you with his branding iron, the computer game just changes a particular global flag's value from 0 to 1. Originally posted by Shiningted: For example, if you want to check whether you have the mark from the Kobold Chief's branding iron, enter the following console command (note: you open/close the console by pressing the ~ key (Shift `)): game.global_flags[539] If any of those particular global flags return a 0 in the console, then it means that you don't have the mark for that humanoid tribe. A return of 1 in the console means that you do have the mark for that humanoid tribe.
