Anyone else have problem with Skill Focus->Use Mgk Device?

    I took this for my rogue but it didn't seem to be included in his skill calculation.

    I did not try using a mgk item in the game with this skill feat chosen as I picked another feat (Magical Affinity) that did show up after choosing it as a feat.


    If anyone has a fix for this Skill Focus -- Use Device (Lol, true enough it doesn't say "Use MAGIC Device"... ;) )

    Anyway, my Bard could really use the extra 3 points to this skill...

    ok, bump but also field test...

    I went ahead and selected Skill Focus-->Use Device during character creation.

    I went in the game with the Character, tried using a scroll... Failed, clicked on Failed and liiked at rolls and mods--> Skill Value was unchanged. No mod for "Use Device"...

    Any help with this one? Would it be an Easy Mod or a Hard Mod to include?

    Hello

    I found out a thing that could be related to this problem : it seems that bonuses or maluses to the 'use magic device' skill that every equipable items in the game have doesn't function. Bonuses/maluses do work for every other skills except this one.
    I tried repairing the masterwork gladiator armor which has a malus in use magic device, in altering the syntax (ie use_device, use_magicdevice, use_magic...) to no avail. So a part of the calculation of this skill is obviously broken.

    Edit : Ha ha ha ! If Co8 or other modders here have read my post, they sould have smiled. I finally figured out how this bug is used. All the masterwork armors and shields that have an Armor Check Penalty of 0 (and strangely and maybe erroneously the masterwork gladiator armor) have the four following skills maluses in protos.tab : hide, move silently, pick pocket, use magic device. But instead of altering the use magic device skill, it affects the tumble skill ! So, these four fake maluses are set to avoid these masterwork light items applying incorrectly a bonus to the ACP affected skills.

    Anyway, my ignorance led me to discover the way to effectively affect the UMD skill. So, the field 'Param. 1' in protos.tab must not indicate "skill_use_magic_device" as it will affect tumble instead, but simply and only "18". This number refers to UMD in the skill.mes file. This way the character sheet lists correctly the modification to the UMD skill.

    Nice work Herk :clap: These sort of bugs go back to the last minute move from 3.0 to 3.5. There's still an 'Innuendo' skill in there too ;)
