Sorry, slipped my mind ... Okay, a review of Abiram's dialogue file shows a pretty glaring error that explains everything related to your difficulties getting this case closed: there are no checks in place to allow for a confession/physical evidence combination explanation to Captain Abiram. So until we fix that, the only way you'll get the resolution you crave is to manually increment Panathaes as a narc for your third piece of evidence. As per previous console instructions, input this: Code: game.global_vars[557] = 1 Then go see Abiram again. Incidentally, you should be able to turn in both of those guys at the culmination of your discussion now, but it's also possible to turn in Panathaes if he's not the kidnapper upon your initial dialogue with Abiram. Something along the lines of "I captured Panathaes ..." This ended up being a good example of how meaningful feedback and working together can help to improve things for everybody. Thanks.
No worries on the delay - I assume you have a lot on your plate. I'll give that a shot. FWIW, I think I tried turning Panatheas in and got the same options as trying to turn in Rackham. (i.e. none)
It worked - thx! quick other question. Is Charm or Dominate the only way to 'capture' someone? For example Panathean, or the fugitives? I can KO them with non-lethal, but then there isn't really a "tie up and drag back to jail option"? (I know from the walkthrough that it seems to be implied they should die, but is there another option I'm not triggering correctly?) Just curious.
I don't think the kidnapper(s) or fugitives are supposed to die from nonlethal. The simplest way to turn in the fugitives is to indeed knock them out and then take them back to Captain Achan. They'll still follow you around while knocked out, even though they don't come with as you run around. They'll just always be lying there in your midst when you arrive on a new map, so you can go up to Achan and tell him you've got so and so. The fugitives wouldn't willingly allow themselves to be captured, which is why they run off if you go to a map where they feel threatened if they'e conscious. And like you say, there's no mechanic in ToEE to actually take someone prisoner, so to do that would involved some hackneyed text-based thing ("The fugitive is now a prisoner, even though he's still standing there like normal.") No thanks. Were you able to offload both Panathaes and Rackham btw? Also, you may want to go visit them in jail later.
OK - so the unconscious body will come along if I go back to Achan? Cool. (Didn't mean to infer that non-lethal would/could kill them, btw, just that the walkthrough talks about Achan setting it up so you'd likely kill them, and was hoping that wasn't the only solution. Yay.) Yes - Rackham and Panatheas stayed with the Captain. Thanx again
Ummm.... unconscious guy (Kendrick?) is not "going along" when I return to Verbobonc. (Not showing up unconscious on new maps.) Sure there isn't some action that's supposed to make that happen? I tried "talking" to him when unconscious (doesn't let me), tried "selecting" him as part of the party with a drag box (nope), tried with and without an open spot in the party (didn't work either way). Tried Charm Person - he came along until we got to the constabulary, when he snapped out of it and ran away, "botching" the capture (If hardwired to happen, that's just mean. booo!). When I talk to Achan, he says/asks nothing about K. I can ask about the other fugitives, and accept the jobs of finding them, but there aren't any dialog options about this guy. With all the saves/restarts involved with the stewards/kids, I don't remember if I talked to Uncle O about the fugitives or not, so I might have just 'stumbled onto' this guy instead of being directed here - that shouldn't matter, right? I guess if I have to kill him, I have to kill him, but I'd rather be able to turn him in.
That's odd ... he's still in the party, right? That's default behavior for unconscious party members. The only way they wouldn't do that is if they were scripted to disband etc. upon arriving at a new map. Looking at his scripts, the only thing I see is that he's scripted to leave the party after five days (I think I did this so they would not be indefinitely available to be turned in, being shady types and all.) Probably should have added the unconscious limiter, but in the meantime are you going straight from Hommlet to Verbobonc? Shouldn't take you five days to get there.
Yeah - straight there. Not sure he's ever been taken "in the party" though. I knock him out and he lays there. Doesn't show up in the row of party icons (assuming that's what I'm looking for). Is there an action I'm supposed to take or something?
Okay that's different - he's not in the party. You should talk to him and get him to join, then do whatever you're going to do with him.
I tried agreeing with his proposition ("I'll show you the other guy if you let me go") and he joined, but if you try to KO him at that point, the other NPCs in the party (Elmo and/or Spug) fight against you too, so I stopped that course of action. I'll try going along with him until we find the other guy I guess, see if that changes anything. If not, any ideas?
I don't mean kill them, just ask them to leave for a while. I'm pretty sure both of those guys will rejoin. (Not all NPCs will.)
