I'm playing TOEE with the three suggested patches +livonya's patch. I was in the middle of a battle and suddenly my wizard and cleric lost their ability to do anything. When their turn comes up in a fight they just shout assent but don't move an inch. They cannot use items, and the spell casting icon in the radial menu is gone. In the next battle the same thing happened to Bertram. Outside of combat my spell users can still create and use items, but still can't cast spells. Any one have any idea how to fix this?
I don't suppose your character's were stunned or sickened or anything like that were they? When this happens to a character they can move normally outside of combat, but are restricted by their affliction during combat. Just a thought to hopefully start the troubleshooting process.
No, there's no indication on the characters' icons that there's anything wrong, and even out of combat I can't cast spells.
I've seen something similar when you get two characters with the same initiative score - one steals the other's turn (not fixable unless someone who can do the coding is able to do it). But.. I've never seen it continuing outside of combat. Does going to Jaroo to remove spell permanancy have any effect?
So now your cleric and wizard can't, errrrr, perform? Could they have caught something from Bertram? <runs>
I suggest you rest for a few days and see if that solves the problem. Also, it would help if you gave more information. For instance what monsters were you fighting when this happened? What monsters were you fighting the second time? - Livonya
The first time I was fighting the high priest and guards in the little room to the immediate north east of the earth shrine (where you get attacked by the earth elementals). The cleric and wizard stopped working there (they have one level in fighter and ranger respectively, if it matters). Then I fought the bugbears in the room just north of the High Priests room and Bertram (fighter levels only, barring whatever he was when I got him) went out of commission. I've rested several days at the inn at this point and even paid the priest of Cuthbert to cure any diseases ( which I never seemed to have anyway) all to no avail.
Allright, problem partly solved. There were no spells I could see involved in this problem, but at the advice of someone on this thread I saw Jaroo about spell permancy and it did take care of the problem. Unfortunately it also removed Bertram from my party. He doesn't know he's out, and if I talk to him I'm just given the option to ask him to leave. If I do so he asks me to take him to Nulb first, which I can't do because he's not in my party. Its not a huge loss, as I rapidly grew to hate Bertram, but I gave him some elven mail to wear, and I want it back! Any ideas? I'm chaotic good, and would prefer to avoid the complications that come with killing him.
Try resting... ...and see if any monsters show up ( I don't know where you're at, so....) ...then let Bertram die, and loot his body. You could try and raise him afterwards & see what that does to his status...er, I mean disposition.
He's in Jaroo's house. No monsters, and I can't kill him myself without fighting Jaroo (and Otis if he's in my party). The previous poster was correct, Bertram is is both weak and supremely annoying. I grabbed him because I wanted an npc to build up from first level, and I thought he would do. Next time I'll choose someone else.
And BE Careful, man... ...'cause with Bertram, 'nature taking its course' is liable to leave you with super looking teeth and a mysterious itching in the posterior.
Got the same problem of character unable to act with my paladin, and worse, when it comes to her turn in battle and I command her to attack some monster, the game locks up after she runs and tries to attack -_-. It happened first time fighting an sleeping ogre in some corner in the earth temple map, if the paladin dosent attack the bug wont happen, but she is my primary fighter! Will try the Jaroo thing, hopefuly it will help! Anyway I am playing the patch 2 + Liv's patch.
