Co8 IRC channel #co8

Firstly, Mirc is a peice of shit. WORSE IRC client out there...

Get either Xchat (open source) or hydra IRC (source on request, free, and really really good).

Secondly, I never heard of this IRC network, please provide its ADDRESS! (for example... irc.blah.com or some such)

 

Taltamir in not surpriced you havn´t heard of gamesurge, im counting 300+ different networks this minute and id be amazed if one person knew them all.

Why is mIRC so bad ? if you have problems with it you need to give some more info or its impossible to help you.

I find mIRC easy and simple but i guess others might not.

The guide i posted does work.

If you find the GameSurge network on you own irc client, plz post a guide so others can use it to get in.

 

With Mirc, you can select a random GameSurge Server. Just press Alt+E (or File -> Select Server), and choose "GameSurge: Random Server" in the dropdown list. Or use the method Clorius described.

I've always been using mIRC and never had a problem with it. Of course everyone is free to use whatever IRC client suits them best. Chacun son gout, as they say.

 

im in there right now using Jinxy mirc ive been using it for awhile now and its always worked great for me. oh and Clorius the addy you posted worked great sent me right to the room thanks.

Finding the address would be simple enough, I am suggesting you include it in the first post for ease of connectivity!

As for why mirc is bad, its got a limited GUI, it costs money and isn't open source (copy protection = inefficiency). The main advantage of it is that everyone and their dog uses it, and thus there are a ton of scrips and plug ins for it. However, that doesn't make it necessarily good, well, not anymore. They were quite impressive in the past but now its just medicore at best. I forgot a bunch of the flaws it had because, quite frankly, I would much rather dwell on how nice the clients I am using now are rather then what was bad with the one i used before.

 

how does it cost money? dont know about copy protection but i import and export stuff from it all the time.

I actually think the channel is a great idea. I'm in there now, and of course, it's empty. I actually need a little help (how do i turn off the auto saves on map changes?! I don't want to play the game yet as I'm afraid I'll miss some of Liv's changes) and if people were actually present it could be of great help at any time. I dont expect it to be a 24 hour help line, but sometimes the boards are a little too slow for my tastes. Waiting 2 or 3 days can get to be annoying sometimes. That said, for those who think irc is full of tastless ramblings I'm sure I would mostly agree with you, but I'm also sure the co8 channel will hold none of that and as long as you stay away from those "teen" channels you'll be safe.

Go to Option, then I believe Preference, there should be somewhere in the middle an option to remove autosave on mapchange.

Thanks belgham,but I'm not sure what you mean. When i head to options i only get game options, view cinematics, and credits. game options only lets me deal with video and sound options. either way, im not sure this is the place to deal with this so i put the question up on a new thread in case anyones got any other ideas

Hey Scorched Earth, I asked the same thing a while ago, and the answers were a bit confusing, but believe me, if you never load a game from the Auto-save slot, there's no neeed to worry. Quick-save, save, whatever, but when your party dies or you're wanting to reload, jusst make sure you don't load from the auto-save slot, and don't press F9 (or quick-load) unless you've already saved your game manually

Sorry if I haven't been on IRC much lately, but I'm quite busy with a huge translation project in Real Life(tm). I'm usually around between 5am and 7am CET.

 

look through every option menu you can find... I think its in game options or preferences... just because it doesn't seem like a logical place for it to be doesn't mean its not actually there
