I can't seem to trigger the encounter with the monster needed to complete the "ghosts in the castle" mission. I think I may have encountered that creature earlier and the loot items disappeared after I left them behind. I can't find these items in the master list to use the console "give ####" command. I am being vague to avoid being a spoiler. Anyone know the items numbers or where they are on the list? Or am I being impatient and it takes some time for the encounter to trigger?
Loot doesn't disappear in ToEE, but it is likely underwater if the monster has 'gone away' so to speak. I would try clicking around in the pond there and see if you can fish anything out. What "master list" are you referring to?
I have had items go missing from the extraplanar chest bug I mentioned in the other thread. I've lost Fragarach, the Unicorn Ring, one of the staves of striking (or somesuch). I seem to remember an encounter in that location, but I can't be sure. I'm beginning to think I looted them but they may have gone into the chest...and now they are gone as well. In the description.mes file, I see a head, hands and feet identified as 12612, 12614 and 12616, respectively. I was going to try the "give" in console and then finish the ghost interaction, but I'm not sure if these are the items. I tried to give me back Fragarach, but all that appears in my inventory is "DO NOT USE - arrow". So I am not sure if the item numbers are even accurate now.
If you read the note that comes with the EC, you'll see that magical items with charges should not be stored in it. The head, hands, and feet proto numbers are correct.
I was aware that crafted items would revert to their original state and that there are issues with stacking multiple spell scrolls of different casting levels in the same inventory. I've actually used that reversion bug to redo some poorly conceived crafting experiments. But things just up and disappearing altogether was something I was not expecting. Do Fragarach or the Unicorn Ring use charges? And the disappearance seems inconsistent. The Staff of Smiting was always there. IIRC, it was Lareth's Staff (club) of Striking that went AWOL.
