When's the right time to allow this fan fix to escape out into the wild? With all the fixes Chris W has checked in recently I think we have critical mass. But We could wait until tommorrow or tommorow night... (it would be nice to beat troika : ) You know in a (crap on you, and your slowness atari) kinda way. and I know Huy worked the weekend) : ) Plus, there's no reason huy can't use our stuff and concentrate on the api changes/lower level Stuff.. Once he gets a chance to see what we're doing.. So what are our thoughts?
My advice: Id personally ask every modder who did alot of the work if they feel like its cool to release. Hows the feedback coming along ive not got very far but if the core modders dont care and the fanfix isnt buggy id say go for it. qwert
Hence this thread.. You know like at nasa? They go through all the tasks? Go-no go? Kinda like that.. But in a more lazy way. I've been lurking for a while trying to see some negative feedback, but there hasn't been much (feedback that is) Have seen about 3-4 posters so far.. Reaction has been real good.
Updated my Fixes thread. Some of them might be good to include as well. Also, can I get a pw to the most recent beta? woosdc@a.cs.osktate.edu Chris Woods
I havn't noticed anything buggy with the betas so far, everyone seems to test everything well enough before they release it, So I guess the real question is are we ready for the influx of new people on the forums. So I would have to so GO! unless anyone else has noticed anything that really needs to be fixed. The beta really fixes alot of previously fubared stuff to begin with. Maby even outside feedback would be good, were all so busy trying to fix things we may be missing things that have become borked. But I think we should wait and see what everyone else has to say about it.
agreed .. I'm going to call it an early night and i'll see what ppl think tommorrow. (In some ways I guess you need to thank atari... for leaving some wide open opportunities to show some great develoment work..) Chris for example has easily taken the "most fixes per day prize"... He has to be cheating somehow.. : ) I just haven't figured out how yet...
I think he has a small army of extremly well trained chimpanzies, who have been raised with one purpose, that is to serve Chris and carry out all of his evil tasks, we should all bow before Chris, Lord of The Text Editing Chimps.
WTF?!? Mr. Underhill The Keeper of the Arcane Toiletries bwahahaha... Ok, back to playing. umm... testing. yeah that's right
I'd like to add two things (if they exist) to the Masterwork Blacksmith dialogues... Longsword & Halfling Siangham (sp?) I didn't have them on the massive list that was supplied to me... If someone can get me the numbers, I've got the script ready to go to just drop them in...
4132 and 4215 respectively. Please note, the Halfling Siagman #4215 is not called "Masterwork..." by Descriptions.mes despite the fact it has the Masterwork property. Updating Descriptions.mes would be appropriate as well. Chris Woods
I would think we should wait untill it's a working friendly to use patch before releasing it... But if it has reached this point, maybe we should release it. Anyway, when you decide, post about it here, so we can add it to the modding section and spread it around to all the news sites.
Regretfully my source for a copy of the game fell through this morning, so I'm still without a copy, so I havn't been able to test anything, and cant test anything I write... so meh That and the massive influx on people to this board has me all frazzled... so... do as you will :0
Fixes are really good, and no problems after some hours of play with it. I would say wrap it up in a nice install package and go for it. Also, wouldn't it be nice to include the "fogless in town" patch too ? (gives really much smoother anims on average computers.) Maybe as an option during install.... ?
