Sounds like you've suffered the dreaded Bink video corruption problem. AFAIK this is not exclusive to ToEE - its a system problem. I don't know what causes it. It's bad news, because the solutions I've heard for fixing it include reinstalling your OS.

    Oh crap.

I've reinstalled the game twice and patched correctly, and it's not because I disabled the videos. The vidoes are playing, just not correctly.

    *cries*

Well I am planning a reinstall of my OS for the summer, I guess I'll wait with TOEE until then. D:

    Newbie question of sort

I just wanted to know if your mod works fine with livonya's mod? and if so do I install yours before hers or do Install hers and then yours. I done somthing of the sort and I got errors so I had to reinstall it again? I don't have patch 3 and dont intend to since it fixes one of the critcal errors or so I think and one of the mods here that you have mentioned does it too. Sooooo I just wanted to know if its safe to add your mod with livonya's.

I'm not sure I understand that question sorry.

Hopefully this is what you mean.

    The patch order is:

    Atari 2

    Co8

    Moebius' temple.dll

(Links (and the same instructions) found on the very first post of this thread)

After those 3 patches, just install Livonya's mod over the top. People are making this into something far more complicated than it should be ;)

    newbie question - the sequel

Yeah I guess I am sometimes too vague when I try to ask something but never the less you answered my question well enough. What I did ask was that if there was a compatibility issue with livonya's patch? The reason I asked this because I installed your temple patch after I intalled livonyas patch and then I installed the fan_fix_3_04 and after all that mess there was an error showing so I had to reinstall the entire game again. I havent installed the patches except the atari patch 1 &2. Also another question I was meaning to ask. Your installation guide says that I have to put in a certain command for the level uncapper. Now I was curious about the default condition that the game had after I installed the temple.zip file. The command that I am supposed to run with (-max level 10) does this take remove the level limit or does this install it? (livonya's mod has the same property as this and her installation guide confused me to hell) I would like to remove the limit. Thanks a lot for replying.

If you install in the order which I gave you, there will be no compatability problems with Livonya's mod. If you install in a different order then there will obviously be a lot of problems.

Hopefully someone else can advise you on how to unlock levels 11 - 20. I can't for the life of me remember how to do it (and I also use the Temple Frontend mod which does it for you..).

You don't need to do anything to unlock levels 11-20 if you install the patches in the right order. The level cap is deactivated by default in Moebius' temple.dll, which is also part of Liv's mod. You only need the -maxlevel switch if you want to reactivate the level cap.

    Hi -

First post...wish I'd found this site earlier.

Had read about the good work on ToEE that Co8 had done over on the Dungeon Lords boards - you want truly buggy and unfinished, that game's version 1.1 is still basically in alpha format - and decided to revisit this one, which I'd gotten a while back via the online (trygames) version.

Well, re-registered for the valid trygames copy thing, then tried to update with the first two Atari patches before the others described here. I am getting "Neither command line parameter specified is a valid directory" for patch 1 and "Cannot locate ToEE, ANY, on your computer" for patch 2.

I've renamed the \Program Files\Atari\Temple of Elemental Evil directory to the \..\ToEE directory specified in the readme file, copied the files to the directory itself, uncopied the files, and tried to guess at various switches for the patches using shortcuts. Nothing seems to work.

    Anyone have suggestions? Thanks.

Start with a new cd install. Download all the patches, Atari 1&2, co8fanfix 3.0.4, and temple.dll. Install the patches as above, in that order. Play the game and check it out. Make sure everything is working properly and you're comfortable with the game. The Livonya mods can be added later. I would delete all other downloads and files BEFORE THE NEW INSTALL. Sounds like you've got a lot of conflicts and you need to start from scratch.

    Thanks for the quick response.

Unfortunately, clean CD install isn't possible as I got this through trygames.com, the guys who will sell you a legal 1 GB download of a full game version, which is probably the only game that I've ever bought that way besides some shareware. As I went back to their site for support, they warn you not to try patching as their software is 'current'.

Which means if I download the software again it's patched through patch 3 I'd imagine.

Will the mods work on top of that or am I going to be running into bug city?

I'll have to check the version I have archived, since I just uninstalled it on the laptop but it's still backed up on my desktop...might get very lucky as it's an older download.

Downloading from an internet site is shakey at best. I've got Roadrunner cable with a upgraded modem and it's great and fast, but bugs still happen. The cd is so cheap now that I'd buy it just to avoid the hassle with the downloaded stuff. The stuff i've recommended is proven and tested and works real well. It's the only way to go.
