This is true for any situation in TOEE, things don't change until you exit the area and re-enter it again.

I believe this has much to do with most events being tied to the first heartbeat of an area, that's when it's told who should be there and what is going on.

I had a chance to finish off Monster Mash, return to Verbo, and verify that Wilfrick is AWOL. Given the contentious political environment, I sympathize with his decision to ditch work, but it does put me in an awkward position insofar as I can't kick off the Slavers quest.

Two resultant questions for the community/developers here:
    1. Is there a console code to start quests if something gets tripped up in the game narrative? In this case, is there something that would make the slavers appear? (I've always enjoyed that battle...it's difficult but doable, and those guys have some sweet loot.)
    2. Will Wilfrick's absence, as of NC 7.5, make starting the War of the Golden Skull impossible? I've still never been able to play WotGS - the last time I played through and got a party up to the required level, I was playing 7.1, which had a screwy bug that stopped WotGS from happening.

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers,
    -KFR

Did you ever arrange to meet Wilfrick in the first place?

I thought it was the guard captain (Absalom ?) at the half circle table before you reach the door to Wilfricks office.

When I returned to Verbobonc last game ( 7.5 NC, LG party) the guard next to the 'V' asked me to see the guard captain, who gave the assassignment.

Or am I thinking of the search for the missing children?

The guard outside by the V tells you to go see Absalom about the missing children (or did: now that's done via your messages on the signpost). Absalom himself will arrange for you to meet Wilfrick for the first time.

Wow, just like in the change log you posted. ;)

Ahhh, so I get it now, the change log wasn't just formatting and typing practice.

Next thing you know, you'll expect us to actually listen to you.

    That's where I draw the line. :p

There's really no need to be condescending. I play this game when I can, returning to a play-through maybe every six months or so. I greatly appreciate the efforts of the developers. There is a lot of information on the forum, and when I get stuck somewhere, I make an earnest effort to track it down. That all said, I don't see the harm in asking.

So: the answer is that, since the last time I played, you talk to a different guy to get an existing quest. Fair enough.

Following your lead, sirchet, here are some emoticons:

That bit's never changed though (at least in modern Verbo 2.0). You've always had to get to Wilfrick through Abiram.

    Hey kungfuramone,

I apologize if I came of harsh, that wasn't my intention.

I was just poking a little fun at you.

This IS certainly the place to ask questions.

OK, so I too now suffer from not getting the Viscount to show up, (is that poetic justice or what).

I speak to the Capt at the half circle desk inside the the City Hall and all he as to say now is Can I help you, (or something similar) and my only response is No thank you sir.

When I first arrived I spoke to him at length, I wonder if I missed the correct dialog tree to start his quest giving spiel.

I never should have made fun with the first person to post about this ... karma hates me.

How do I capture the 3 fugitives

I have knocked the elf barbarian out with subdual damage and looted him, but don't understand how to turn him in... I tried casting a healing spell on him, but he just got up and I had to subdue him again. Can any one tell me how I can bring him to the prison? I have done some searches and it appears charm/dominate don't work. Thanks!

That's actually what I would like to do, I'm just not sure how you would do that. You can't pick up his unconcious body, and I read in a previous post that if you charm/dominate to add him to your party and then go to the prison that he will simply leave, so that is what I am confused about... How do you bring him to the prison? I'm sure it is probably something simple or perhaps there is a command I don't know about, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to 'pick up' the fugitive to bring to the prison...

Ah, I see - you haven't gotten him to join you. Do that, then knock him out, and then take him to prison. Joined NPCs will follow you even when they are unconscious.
