list your best weapon and why:

mine is a tie between the glaive and the heavy pick, the reason is with WW and Cleave you hit everything with the glaive but if you craft the 4x on the pick will do crazy damage on a crit

    Oh, interesting one...
I think I'd go for a masterwork composite shortbow: nice and stealthy, already with a little bit extra but with the potential for so much more..
The downside is that if you get one before you've started crafting belts etc then you're stuck with a fairly poor damage bonus (I'm happy with a starting strength of 14 or so for dex based fighters and rogues), or end up pumping xp and cash into making it +3 holy flaming burst etc then selling it when you up your strength because you're not getting full strength bonus. I suppose that the increasd difficulty in minmaxing makes it feel a bit more honest.

Besides that- longswords, because there are some decent one to find quickly, and the flametongue looks cool in use (not so keen on the frostbrand for looks- curved two-handers look wrong some how).
Honorable mentions: I ran a rogue/ fighter spiked chain wielder- nice animation and very effective reaching. I once used a great cleaver or guillotine blade or something I stole from a drow which mwde a lovely 'snig' sound when I hit people with it.

Composite Longbow, hands down. Buy a Masterwork version built for 18 STR and craft away. Rapid Shot, Weapon Specialization and Sneak Attack are a dream even before you add crafting.

As a bard, my story is my weapon.

A Fighter, Cleric, Wizard, and Bard have stopped at a tavern to relax. The bard gets up to get some drinks for everyone, and the fighter starts to boast loudly.
"I can kill a monster in a single turn!" he exclaims as he flexes, showing off.
The cleric gets up and scoffs at the fighter. His holy symbol glows as he proclaims, "By the grace of my god, I can kill a monster in a single action!"
The wizard waves his hand dismissively. "I can kill a monster before my turn," he says as sparks shoot from his fingertips.
The bard leans over the counter and whispers to the barkeep, "I can get three suckers to kill a monster for me."

Efficiency wise u are hard pressed to find anything above a great sword, falchion or some polearm but as personal preferences go, i'm a sucker for short swords(dual wielders standard pick and a decent container for the sneak attacks &crafted specials to stack on later with minimal economical&backpack strains... heck most of the times u literally pick up these things from the floor in +x flavors(and is close to certainty that in a greedy party u wont get challenged for a measly short sword that drops as loot) and morning stars(sometimes surviving is easyer by adding a shield and since yr stuck with the standard 1d8+str modifier u may as well take a wpn with 2 damage types to be sure u aren't reduced to spectator status by some over abused slash resistant creeps that inevitably show up as scare crows for rogues and yr tipical melee slasher builds)
As far as ranged wpns go i'm a sucker for lite xbow and the short composite bow as both are quite common in +x flavors and deal decent dmg and are rarely challenged loot
All in all odd wpn choices for me but then again i'm used to multiplay rather than single play and more often then not i'm the one doing the dirty jobs(scouting, lockpicking ,trapping and sometimes even the nasty party face one) and take up support roles in combat so any wpn with a +x to hit thats easy to obtain&handle and is unlikely to draw the attention of a big mouthed minmaxer is perfect as most of my dmg will come from crafts(if affordable)and rogues sneak bonuses/ranger's ire towards something...

IIRC Greataxes are comparable to Greatswords. Been a while since I used an axe that isn't made by dwarves.

If you are gonna try it, the c64 version is the best 8bit version, and the atari st version is the best 16bit version. I still think the original bardstale is the best version, as they got carried away on the sequels.

C64 is a commodore64, an old 8 bit personal computer, if you wanna play the old bard's tale series, that is the one you want, it has very easy to use emulators. The 16 bit version of bards tale is a little prettier and the best version of bards tale in 16 bit was for the old atari st personal computer. There is a dos version of bards tale but its junk. It has ugly colors and it uses the PC speaker for sound.

Check this site out for some info

I love Wizardry 7 and 8. Two of my favorite games of all time.

It has Ninja as a class! Ninja! Can't go wrong with that!
