Okay,so maybe this is a dumb question but how can i use a item? like the journal you find in the moathouse? how can i read it? I've yet to figure it out and would very much like to have the "full" experience of the game.
Below the grid which depicts your inventory are two buttons. One appears as a hand with a green orb (I think) above it, while the other is a hand with a red orb below it. The "above" button is to use an object, like to read a book, while the "below" button is to drop an item on the ground, where I believe it will stay for the duration of the game. These buttons should have text that appears when you hover over them. Let me know if this helps!
