Heh heh a never ending debate. NWN1 and NWN2 were made by Bio Ware and published by Obsidian. Click on the Bio Ware to see the NWN2 site. Dragon age and the upcoming Dragon Age 2 are made by Bio Ware and published by EA. Click on Bio Ware to see the DA site. Bio Ware has made many of the games most of us love, even if they have had to work with some of the worst publishers available.
Where exactly did you get that information? Publisher for NWN2 was Atari, developer was Obsidian. BioWare only consulted on the engine. Source: Wikipedia, NWN2's legal artwork. And to my knowledge Obsidian is purely a development studio and *never* published a game by themselves. Take a look at their Wikipedia page and see any of the other games they've worked on. They're always developers. Regards, Storm
Sadly, they're always the boys who make sequels. Well, I think Alpha Protocol was their own idea but SEGA has rights to the IP. Well, Fallout was sort of theirs. But it's now in the hands of Bethesda. And they're also making a sequel to Dungeon Siege...
So I was watching gameplay preview vids from E3, and this is looking pretty darn good. Still very curious to see what the F2P model will look like, though.
Neverwinter The open beta for Neverwinter (a free-to-play online computer game using a modified version of Dungeons & Dragons 4th edition rules and set in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting) is available to play now. I've watched the trailers for the different playable classes that you can play in the game and I have to say that I am VERY keen to play this game! Hope to see you in the game. The playable classes include: Control Wizard (ranged damage dealer who can crowd control) (can only wear cloth armour and only wield an orb) Devoted Cleric (healer & ranged damage dealer) (can only wear chain armour and only wield a holy symbol) Great Weapon Fighter (melee damage dealing specialist) (can only wear chain armour and only wield a greatsword) Guardian Fighter (melee defence specialist) (can only wear plate armour and only wield a longsword and shield) Trickster Rogue (melee damage dealing specialist who can flank attack, stun, and evade enemy attacks, and who can disarm traps) (can only wear leather armour and only wield 2 daggers (dual-wield)) The game's website is at the following link: http://nw.perfectworld.com/ The following link is a source of invaluable information about the game: http://neverwinter.gamepedia.com/Neverwinter_Wiki
I started this game last night at the behest of a friend. I had WoWed for years, but it took too much time from the family. I will have to watch this one. This game is slick enough and so far the story is good enough- especially considering that it is directly tied to things happenning in the canon-approved D&D novels- to be a real contender. The gameplay is good and I like that it is actually a little more story oriented than WoW. It is open, but yet more linear. They have a FABULOUS benefit of being able to create your own dungeons and adventures, that other characters can run and get experience from! This is available at level 15. I made level 5 in a couple of hours and my buddy made level 10 in about 6, so 15 is pretty early in the game. For any true D&D fans (and especially DMs), I highly recommend this.
I am not sure I gave this one enough time, but it didn't really hook me. Felt very similar to all the others. I did play Path of Exile to the end though - that was a fun game.
I was surprised to see Minsc in the computer game Neverwinter! He is ridiculously huge in the game! He makes my tall character look like a halfling! His sword is as wide as my character's head!
Yes, all of Minsc's dialogue is voice acted (very well). Minsc joins your character in quests against evil elemental cults. It's great hearing Minsc shout war-cries in dungeons, like the old, familiar "Go for the eyes, Boo!". Whenever your character is idle in a dungeon, Minsc gets impatient waiting for your character and he shouts that he wants to kill evil priests now! My character came close to dying a few times in these dungeon quests, whereas Minsc barely lost any Hit Points. He killed enemies almost instantly! Seeing Minsc charge towards you is one of the scariest things that I have seen in the game so far! You also get to meet Elminster, but he is boring because he has little dialogue and he just gives you quests. Yes, the character in the middle of that screenshot is my tiefling Control Wizard when he was level 60. The character on the right of that screenshot is my companion (a Cleric Disciple). Your character can only have 1 companion summoned at a time. The current maximum level cap for your character is level 70. You get a horse mount for free at approximately level 15 (I can't remember exactly). You can create 2 characters for free. However, you'll need to buy further slots if you want to have more than 2 characters. Once your character reaches the maximum level cap, there is no incentive to continue playing the game after that. But I did have a lot of fun levelling up my character and exploring the excellent, diverse zones in the game.
